The word sounds bad.
The
body of it is loathsome.
A
scorpion is not a thing of beauty, but beside the cockroach scorpios possesses veritable
pulchritude.
But…
“Many scientists believe that entomophagy---insect eating---will not only
benefit our health, but also the planet. In an interview with The Guardian, Belgian entomologist Arnold van Huis says that farming insects emits 10
times less greenhouse gas than farming livestock.”
And…
“Most people might see cockroaches as good-for-nothing pests, but this
germ-ridden insect could be an indirect source of new antibiotics for humans.”
Some cockroaches even make excellent pets when they’re not on the menu.
These propositions are not getting me
bug-eyed with excitement, but we should do what we can (or have to do) in order
to save the planet.
