BULLETS ROPE AND A DOPE

Texas has by far executed more inmates than any other state in the U.S. since the Supreme Court allowed executions to resume. Since 1982, six years after the high court's order, Texas has executed 503 inmates. Virginia is a distant second at 110.

PRISON WARDEN:

Hello.

 Connect me to Governor Perry.

 This is the Prison Warden.

OPERATOR:

One moment please.

Warden, Governor Perry is tied up in a meeting right now.

May I give him a brief message?

PRISON WARDEN:

Yeah.

Tell the governor we can’t execute any more prisoners because we ran out of our drug that does the executin’.

OPERATOR:

Thank you sir.

I’ll give the Governor your message.

PRISON WARDEN (To himself):

Tied up, yeah I bet he’s tied up…his underwear's tied up in a bunch of knots.

(After 30 minutes)

GOVERNOR PERRY:

Warden?

Yeah, Rick Perry.

I hear you’ve ran out of the stuff that snuffs out the prisoners.

PRISON WARDEN:

That’s correct sir.

GOVERNOR PERRY:

Well, do we still have bullets and rope?

PRISON WARDEN:

Yes sir.

GOVERNOR PERRY:

Then there’s no problem.

Just put a noose on your rope and bullets in your rifle.

PRISON WARDEN:

Sir, isn’t that a little uncivilized?

GOVERNOR PERRY: (Laughs)

Warden, we’re not in the business to civilize our prisoners, but to kill them.

Just shoot ‘em or hang ‘em.

Leave the civilizing up to us Republicans.

PRISON WARDEN:

Yes sir.

IT’S ABOUT RENEWABLE RESOURCES!
