BUSH WOOS AGAIN

Isolated in their evil, the neoconservatives are frantically and shrilly demanding that Bush join Israel in military attacks on Syria and Iran in order to “build democracy” and to clear the Middle East of any opposition to Israel’s unbridled self-interest. The crazed David Horowitz writes that “Israel is doing the work of the rest of the civilized world.”

Neoconservatives believe that the US and Israel can extirpate Islam with fire and sword and that the present opportunity to escalate the current conflict into generalized war in the Middle East must not be missed.

The Unfolding Horror Show

"The Republicans are very good at coming up with phony issues. Stem-cell research is a phony issue. Flag-burning is a phony issue. Reading the Bible in school is a phony issue. The real issues are health care, ending the war… The real issue is also a free America.''
[Rev. Carl Fitchett, pastor of Mt. Moriah Temple Baptist Church in Philadelphia/7-20/06]

It’s election year.
Politicians of both parties scramble for every scrap and opportunity to pamper and powder their political ambitions.
The President finally decided (he is the Decider after all) to attend a NAACP Convention.
Although the Long War President says that polls aren’t important to him, his attendance at the NAACP gathering is not without its effect on polls, as negligible as it may be.
After many mistakes, fabrications and disasters during his administration, the Long War Decider-Prevaricator President will do anything to help maintain his imperial reign, and also to help the Republican minions hold on to their own seats of power.
Thus, he came to the NAACP with his heart and hand open to woo votes.
His speech to the NAACP (whoever wrote it) made sure that it pushed all of the right, obsequious buttons.
It is probable that his audience knew that they were being wooed, but were themselves polite and deferential to a U.S. President, even though for this president the U.S. Constitution is just a “goddamned piece of paper”.
