"Freedom, by its nature, cannot be imposed.
It must be chosen."

Address to the United Nations
George W. Bush once again sounded very good.
His speech writer is very good.
But the above lines, which came at the end of his address to the United Nations, stick out like sore thumbs.
Did America impose its freedom on the Iraqi people when cruise missiles were launched by George W. Bush in his unprovoked pre-emptive attack on the nation of Iraq?
Did the Iraqi people choose freedom on that infamous first day of this long and horrendous war?
THE ANSWER TO THE FORMER IS YES!
THE ANSWER TO THE LATTER IS NO!
Mr. President, the world has seen what you have done.
The world listens to your words, but it doesn't believe a liar.
All of your words sounded wonderful.
It's too bad reality doesn't match your rhetoric.
The world now fears that you will bomb Iran.
The world does not need any more fear or fear of bombs.
The world needs a reprieve from war.
NO MORE WAR.
Neocons seek maximum chaos and instability in the Middle East in order to justify long-term US occupation of the region. Following this line of thought, neocons would regard the loss of a US aircraft carrier in the Persian Gulf as a way to solidify public support for the war. US public anger at the Iranians could even result in US public support for a military draft in order to win "the war on terror."
Neocons claim that tactical nuclear weapons are necessary to destroy Iran's underground facilities. However, the real reason for using nukes against Iran is to intimidate Iran from retaliating and to threaten the entire Muslim world with genocide unless Muslims bend to the neocons' will and accept US hegemony over their part of the world.
In his speech to the United Nations, Hugo Chavez might not have been too deep into hyperbole when he described Bush as an example of demonic evil.

FRIENDS AND FOES
The government of the United States handpicks its friends and enemies.
The American taxpayers foot the bill.
Both political parties are guilty.
President Reagan secretly aided Iran by selling weapons to that country in order to fund the Contras.
The C.I.A. handpicked Saddam Hussein:
While many have thought that Saddam first became involved with U.S. intelligence agencies at the start of the September 1980 Iran-Iraq war, his first contacts with U.S. officials date back to 1959, when he was part of a CIA-authorized six-man squad tasked with assassinating then Iraqi Prime Minister Gen. Abd al-Karim Qasim.
The U.S. shut a blind eye when Hussein used chemical weapons (made from some materials that came from the United States):
How did Iraq get its weapons? We sold them
The Sunday Herald

By Neil Mackay and Felicity Arbuthnot
THE US and Britain sold Saddam Hussein the technology and materials Iraq needed to develop nuclear, chemical and biological weapons of mass destruction.
Reports by the US Senate's committee on banking, housing and urban affairs which oversees American exports policy reveal that the US, under the successive administrations of Ronald Reagan and George Bush Senior sold materials including anthrax, VX nerve gas, West Nile fever germs and botulism to Iraq right up until March 1992, as well as germs similar to tuberculosis and pneumonia. Other bacteria sold included brucella melitensis, which damages major organs, and clostridium perfringens, which causes gas gangrene.
The shipments to Iraq went on even after Saddam Hussein ordered the gassing of the Kurdish town of Halabja, in which at least 5000 men, women and children died. The atrocity, which shocked the world, took place in March 1988, but a month later the components and materials of weapons of mass destruction were continuing to arrive in Baghdad from the US.
The chessmen are moved when the U.S. government needs to keep a friend or destroy an enemy.
The Taliban were ignored until they backed off from supporting the construction of an oil pipeline through Afghanistan.
The poppies didn't bloom so abundantly in Afghanistan as they do now.
The Taliban wouldn’t allow them to bloom.
But now the Taliban gets money from those same poppies.
Drug dealer Noriega was a friend until Bush Senior sent him packing.
Then there was Somoza.
Then there was Pinochet.
Then there was Marcos.

TERRORISTS AND KILLER VEGETABLES
Terrorists.
Cigarettes.
AIDS.
Cholesterol.
Speed...
On the highway and in your body.
AND THEN THERE IS SPINACH!
Popeye just got a black eye.
But wait, he didn't eat fresh spinach.
Whew! Thank goodness!
The little bugger that has recently contaminated the leafy green is the bacterium called E.coli.
I hated the taste of spinach until I lived in Afghanistan.
A part of my very first meal in Kabul was spinach with lots of the buttery-tasting oil from a lamb's tail.
I ate it.
I liked it!
What I didn't like was the little pebble that I crunched on.
This was one word in Farsi I never forgot: sang.
Now I eat a can of spinach every week.

THE WAR ON TERROR IS MY PRIDE AND JOY OBEY ME
"I think the very kindest thing that we can say about George W. Bush and all the people in the U.S. Government that have been involved in this massive cover-up, the very kindest thing we can say is that they were aware of impending attacks and let them happen. Now some people will say that’s much too kind, however even that is high treason and conspiracy to commit murder."

You see, you Press fellows and the Supreme Court can be my buddies as long as you obey me.
I am your Decider.
I am your Long War President.
I won't allow any former Secretary of State stop me from bringing the evil terrorists to justice, or deter me from my goal of avoiding impeachment for illegal Torture and illegal Surveillance.
The Decider likes the Supreme Court when it elects him.
The Decider doesn’t like the Supreme Court when it challenges his hubris and illegal ways.
The Long War President must have everything his way or it’s the highway...and
Guantanomo Bay!
I will say and do anything to stop these appeasing-the-enemy Democrats.
Shotgun Dick is cocked and loaded.
I've got to stay on my horse.
I have got to stay on course.
I am on my way to Victory in Iraq.
The Terrorists are coming!
The Terrorists are coming!
We have to fight the terrorists there and not Here!

MORE READING BETWEEN THE LINES
It's always a pleasure to be introduced into the Rose Garden.
(It’s those nasty thorns that I hate.)
I was so honored to meet with… first responders…all who still had heaviness in their heart.
(And asbestos in their lung.)
Right here in the Oval Office, I get briefed nearly every morning about the nature of this world…
(And I learn how messed up nature has become.)
Time is running out.
(And so am I in 2008.)
We didn't ask for this war.
(But I decided to give it to you anyway.)
This debate is occurring because of the Supreme Court's ruling that said that we must conduct ourselves under the Common Article III of the Geneva Convention. And that Common Article III says that there will be no outrages upon human dignity. It's very vague. What does that mean, "outrages upon human dignity"?
(Does that mean that we can’t almost drown our enemies? Or zap their gonads with electricity? To avoid prosecution of any war crimes, we have to be specific about what our interrogators can and cannot do.)
I must say, having gone through those gyrations, you're looking beautiful today, Dave
(Maybe we can touch base at dinner later.)
There's no doubt in my mind we needed to make sure the Patriot Act was renewed to tear down walls that exist so that intelligence people could serve -- could share information with criminal people.
(So that intelligence people could share information with criminal people? Did I just hear myself say that?)
"The world is beginning to doubt the moral basis of our fight against terrorism. To redefine Common Article 3 would add to those doubts. Furthermore, it would put our own troops at risk."

MORE VOMIT AND FLAWED LOGIC FROM BUSH
"IT'S UNACCEPTABLE TO THINK..."
George W. Bush
The Rose Garden
September 15, 2006
If a majority in the House of Representatives or the Senate is not achieved by the Democrats in November, then the American people will continue to choke on the rhetorical and dictatorial vomit of Bush.
Not a pleasant image or description, I know, but the truth is quite often puky and offensive.
The Long War President, Dick Cheney, Donald Rumsfeld (and others) deserted the Global War on Terror when they removed the attack on Al-Qaeda in Afghanistan and substituted their pre-emptive Shock and Awe bombing of Iraq.
Now, both Afghanistan and Iraq are DISASTERS.
The Long War President is as dumb about the real situation in Iraq as he is about Global Warming.
And Dick Cheney is wrong once again:
IRAQ AND SADDAM HUSSEIN DID NOT THREATEN AMERICA.
Again, lying Dick, you are dead wrong:
IRAQ DID NOT THREATEN AMERICA.
Saddam Hussein was in a box (and later in a hole). He may have had nefarious ambitions, but his military had already been eviscerated by Daddy Bush.
Self-delusional megalomaniacs have taken over our country.
They point their pontifical and hypocritical fingers at their critics.
But if these powerful, insatiable and lying psychopaths are not censored and investigated (and yes, IMPEACHED) for their misconceived and deceptive stratagems, then the United States of America will have reached a moribund stage of its brief life.
If the grip of the GOP and George W. Bush’s cabal is not ejected, then it will continue to project its foul vomit upon the American people and the Constitution of the United States…oh…and
THE WORLD!
"For more than 200 years our nation has adhered to the fundamental principle that our government is one of laws, not men. The Administration and Warner bills threaten that tradition by stripping the federal courts of jurisdiction to hear pending habeas cases brought by Guantánamo detainees. If enacted, these bills would authorize the life-long detention of more than 450 men who have been imprisoned in Guantánamo for nearly five years without ever having been charged with an offense or receiving a fair hearing. This is unconscionable. Every person detained by our nation must receive a fair hearing--one that does not rely on secret evidence or evidence obtained by torture or coercion--because fairness and due process are what America stands for. We would demand nothing less for members of our military if they were captured abroad by our enemies. Congress should reject any provision that abandons habeas corpus."

ONE STORMY NIGHT AND GOODBYE FROGS
I remember the night when I was in line at Wal-Mart buying some batteries.
A beautiful thunderstorm had been brewing just before I entered the store.
Then there was a thunderbolt.
It shook the building.
The power went out.
It was my turn to pay the cashier for my batteries when the cash register conked out.
I don't know why (the mind works in strange ways), but I picked this moment to say to the cashier, "You know, frogs can tell you a lot about the health of the earth. When they're dying you know there's something wrong in the environment."
Behind me a voice piped up "You better stop talking, or I'll have someone who’ll stop you."
I turned around and saw the woman, and figured that it was her husband that she was referring to who would stop me from saying any more about frogs.
I didn't see her better half yet, but I took her at her word, and I let the subject of frogs jump out the window (if there had been any).
I paid for my batteries and leapfrogged out of the store.
I still don't know why frogs and what I had said about them agitated this woman so much.
Maybe she raised frogs and I was stepping on some webbed toes.
But frogs have come home (not to roost).
Amphibians are in the news again.
My comment that stormy night was accurate and ominous.
“For the first time in modern history, because of the way that humans are impacting our natural world, we're facing the extinction of an entire class of organisms. This is not the extinction of just a panda or a rhino; it's a whole class of organisms. Certainly if it were impacting mammals, we would be taking this a lot more seriously.”

LIES LIES LIES LIES
“DON’T COME AND BOTHER US.
WE WILL KILL YOU.”
The Long War President’s address on Monday limned the landscape for World War III (Or IV…Or V).
The Decider carefully read his written speech.
He didn't blink much.
He had his hands carefully positioned on the desk behind which he sat.
He was very serious.
He again told us about this perpetual war (or at least HIS perpetual war).
The Long War President reminded us ONCE again that the United States would continue fighting in Iraq until there is COMPLETE VICTORY.
COMPLETE VICTORY.
COMPLETE VICTORY…
UNTIL THE MISSION IS ACCOMPLISHED.
UNTIL THE MISSION IS ACCOMPLISHED.
UNTIL THE MISSION IS ACCOMPLISHED…
CLICHES!
CLICHES!
AND MORE CLICHES!
And fear!
Fear of Terror.
Fear of Leaving Iraq…

How can we believe a perpetual liar?
We can’t.

9-11 AND THE ABODE OF UNTRUTH
"It is already possible to know beyond a reasonable doubt one very important thing: The destruction of the World Trade Center was an inside job, orchestrated by domestic terrorists. The welfare of our republic and perhaps even the survival of our civilization depend on getting the truth about 9/11 exposed."
DAVID RAY GRIFFIN
Author of The New Pearl Harbor: Disturbing Questions About the Bush Administration and 9/11
September 11, 2001: For 35 minutes, from 8:15 AM until 9:05 AM, although widely known within the FAA and the military that four planes have been simultaneously hijacked and taken off course, no one notifies the President of the United States. It is not until 9:30 AM that any Air Force planes are scrambled to intercept, but by then it is too late. This means the National Command Authority waited for 75 minutes before scrambling aircraft, even though it was known that four simultaneous hijackings had occurred -- an event that has never happened in history. [CNN; ABC; MS-NBC; Los Angeles Times; New York Times]
The exercises that went on that morning simulating the exact kind of thing that was happening so confused the people in the FAA and NORAD....that they didn't know what was real and what was part of the exercise.
I think the people who planned and carried out those exercises, they're the ones that should be the object of investigation.
If I had to narrow it down to one person....I think my prime suspect would be Dick Cheney.

Early July 2001: A briefing prepared for senior US government officials:
"Based on a review of all-source reporting over the last five months, we
believe that [bin Laden] will launch a significant terrorist attack
against US and/or Israeli interests in the coming weeks. The attack will
be spectacular and designed to inflict mass casualties against US
facilities or interests. Attack preparations have been made. Attack will
occur with little or no warning." As the weeks go by, intelligence
information given to senior officials show that al-Qaeda continues to
expect an imminent attack on US interests. [Senate Intelligence
Committee, 9/18/02, Washington Post, 9/19/02]
Nov. 2, 2001, 12:00 PST -- On Oct. 31 the French daily Le Figaro dropped a bombshell. While in a Dubai hospital receiving treatment for a chronic kidney infection last July, Osama bin Laden met with a top CIA official -- presumably the chief of station. The meeting, held in bin Laden's private suite, took place at the American hospital in Dubai at a time when he was a wanted fugitive for the bombings of two U.S. embassies and last year's attack on the USS Cole.
Sept. 6-7, 2001 - Put options (a speculation that the stock will go down) totaling 4,744 are purchased on United Air Lines stock, as opposed to only 396 call options (speculation that the stock will go up). This is a dramatic and abnormal increase in sales of put options. Many of the United puts are purchased through Deutschebank/A.B. Brown, a firm managed until 1998 by the current executive director of the CIA, A.B. "Buzzy" Krongard. The business of America is business.
The Pentagon and its suppliers had a lot of business because of 9-11.
There are a few who believe that Vice President Dick Cheney “coordinated” the attacks while a dazed Commander-in-Chief was busy reading to a classroom of children in Florida.
"I was sitting outside the classroom and I saw an airplane hit the tower. The TV was on.” [CNN, 12/4/01] “When we walked into the classroom, I had seen this plane fly into the first building.” [White House, 1/5/02] There was no live coverage of the first crash on TV and President Bush was in a classroom reading with children at the time of the second crash.
The Long War President was also in a daze a few days before 9-11:
On August 6, 2001 Bush was given a national security memo that warned of a possible attack by al-Qaeda during the next few weeks using hijacked aircraft by al-Qaeda agents already inside the United States. Bush responded by taking a long vacation at his ranch in Crawford.
President Bush receives classified intelligence briefings at his Crawford, Texas ranch indicating that Osama bin Laden might be planning to hijack commercial airliners. [CBS News; CNN, May 15, 2002]
The Decider has been vacationing for six years now.
Except when he gives his propaganda speeches before hand-picked pro-war audiences.
Monday the Long War President will give one more speech.
But America is no longer supporting the Long War President’s War or his Abode of Untruth.
Late July 2001 : David Schippers, noted conservative Chicago lawyer
and the House Judiciary Committee's chief investigator in the Clinton
impeachment trial, later claims that FBI agents in Chicago and Minnesota
contact him around this time and tell him that a terrorist attack,
involving aircraft, is going to occur in lower Manhattan. According to
Schippers, the agents had been developing extensive information on the
planned attack for many months. However, the FBI soon pulls them off the
terrorist investigation and threatens them with prosecution under the
National Security Act if they go public with the information. As a
result, they contact Schippers hoping he can persuade the government to
take action. Schippers tries to pass the information on to high
government officials but apparently his efforts are ignored. Partly in
conjunction with Judicial Watch, the public interest law firm, Schippers
is now representing at least ten FBI agents in a suit against the US
government in an attempt to have their testimony subpoenaed, which would
enable them to legally tell what they know without going to jail.
[Judicial Watch, 11/14/01
August 2001: Russian President Putin later states that during this
month, "I ordered my intelligence to warn President Bush in the strongest
terms that 25 terrorists were getting ready to attack the US, including
important government buildings like the Pentagon." [MSNBC, 9/15/01] He
states that suicide pilots are training for attacks on US targets. [Fox
News, 5/17/02] The head of Russian intelligence also states, "We had
clearly warned them" on several occasions, but they "did not pay the
necessary attention." [Agence France-Presse, 9/16/01] A Russian newspaper
on September 12, 2001 claims that "Russian Intelligence agents know the
organizers and executors of these terrorist attacks. Moscow warned
Washington about preparation to these actions a couple of weeks before
they happened.
August 2001: The CIA issues a report warning the White House,
Pentagon and Department of State that bin Laden is intent on launching a
terrorist attack soon, possibly inside the US. [Sunday Herald, 9/23/01]
August 6, 2001: President Bush receives classified intelligence briefings
at his Crawford, Texas ranch indicating that bin Laden might be planning
to hijack commercial airliners. The memo read to him is titled "Bin Laden
Determined to Strike in US", and the entire 11 page memo focuses on the
possibility of terrorist attacks inside the US (his normal daily security
briefings run two or three pages).
"No one could have conceived of planes as a weapon."

NAZIS FASCISTS AND TERRORISTS
George W. Bush's grandfather, Prescott Bush, had the assets of the family business seized by the U.S. Government under the Trading With The Enemy Act of 1941. Much of the Bush family fortune was made by dealing with Nazi Germany -- both before and during World War II.
A recent Ipsos-Public Affairs poll released by the Associated Press shows that 60 percent of Americans believe that Bush's invasion of Iraq has created more terrorism and that Americans are less safe as a result of invading Iraq.
The Decider's voice is getting louder and louder.
The fire in which he may fry is getting hotter and hotter---
Closer and closer.
The worms are coming out of the woodwork.
The vultures are beginning to circle.
All is not well in Camelot.
The Long War President and his Neo Con men are slinging arrows of outrageous accusation.
The majority of fighters in Iraq are now its own citizens, but the LWP is calling them Islamic Fascists.
And Donald Rumsfeld, Dick Cheney and the LWP are associating the persons (who oppose their policies) with Nazis
And
Communists
And
Fascists.
APPEASERS!
And these are the same names that the Long War President is tagging on the terrorists.
And suddenly, Osama bin Laden is now under the LWP's microscopic eyes.
It's time to play the terror and fear card!
It's time to brush off the bin Laden script that has been silent for years.
Another spider hole (or cave) is being readied.
An election is in November.
The voters have to be reminded that the Cowboy Decider in the White House still has his finger on the button.
And they must obey him.
They must not question his authority.
They must believe that the Long War President is still their all-knowing and all-powerful Protector and Decider.
Beware the Ides (and Ideas) before November.

MORE MISSILE ENVY
What can you do with $80,000,000?
How many firecrackers could you buy?
This is the price tag for the latest test of the Pentagon’s anti-missile defense system.
One side of me says hurray and one side of me says holy s**t!
The latter opinion is my reaction to the cost of the defense missile system for the previous five years: $43,000,000,000.
But the yea side of me is stronger than the nay side.
It is better to have the capacity to defend against incoming missiles than not to have any capacity.
In the long and short term it is best for U.S. security to have a system that can destroy missiles that want to kill Americans.
Give kudos for this new system.
Let’s hope that it only gets better and better.
North Korea and other nations may think twice before they start any missile lobbing.

CROCODILE TEARS
The words great and tragedy are overused.
He was great.
This or that was great.
It was a great tragedy.
But both of these words cannot be overused to describe the death of Steve Irwin.
The whole world loved this guy.
He was so positive and amiable.
Once again the good has died young.
I never wanted the Crocodile Hunter to get hurt when he stood in front of all of those hungry crocs.
But I was amazed that he so rarely got hurt.
Like the boyish John Denver (whom Steve Irwin resembled), we have lost a young heart of gold.
All of the planet's crocodiles are crying...
Yes, real crocodile tears.

HAPPY LABOR DAY
Labor.
Birth, occupation, task, and work are some of the synonyms in Roget’s Thesaurus.
There’s a labor of love and love’s labour’s lost.
I like Dylan Thomas’s use of labor in his poem IN MY CRAFT OR SULLENT ART.
Here is the first half of the poem that contains labour.
In my craft or sullen art
Exercised in the still night
When only the moon rages
And the lovers lie abed
With all their griefs in their arms,
I labour by singing light
Not for ambition or bread
Or the strut and trade of charms
On the ivory stages
But for the common wages
Of their most secret heart.
I labored this Labor Day weekend.
I was working hard at winning on one Keno machine.
I spent five hours of labor and $300 of my hard-earned labor until I hit 6 spots.
I had wagered the maximum bet of $1.00.
I had labored for so long, that when I finally got what I had been laboring for, I blinked when the last number lit-up to make sure that I had finally gotten the reward for my labors.
I know that I wasn’t really working. But the IRS thinks so.
I will pay for my winning numbers this tax year. However, I don’t think it’s fair.
All of the money in that machine was filled with money that had already been taxed once.
Citizens labor hard for their dollars, and we shouldn’t have to pay taxes twice for the labor we have already done and paid taxes for.
We should get paid for Labor Day, too.
Happy Labor Day!

DRUGS FOR MONEY BUT THE CHICKS AREN'T FREE
Attention all opium and heroin addicts:
Go to Afghanistan for your fix.
The Taliban was a deterrent to drug cultivation and consumption before the U.S. invasion.
But the Taliban became the enemy and poppies bloomed.
The United States is not without blemish when it comes to drugs and war.
Allegations have tied drug-running with the C.I.A. and wars.
In fact, a few conspiracy theorists allege that the connection hasn’t ended.
The WAR ON DRUGS has gone on and on for decades.
Now there is the (perpetual) WAR ON TERROR.
Both wars have created profits for the Pentagon and many corporations.
War and drugs are two peas in a pod:
THEY MAKE MONEY!
KABUL, Afghanistan (AP) -- Opium cultivation in Afghanistan is spiraling out of control, rising 59 percent this year to produce a record 6,100 tons -- nearly a third more than the world's drug users consume, the U.N. said Saturday (9-2-06).
ClA-supported Mujahedeen rebels [now, 2001, part of the "Northern Alliance"] engaged heavily in drug trafficking while fighting against the Soviet-supported government and its plans to reform the very backward Afghan society. The Agency's principal client was Gulbuddin Hekmatyar, one of the leading druglords and a leading heroin refiner. CIA-supplied trucks and mules, which had carried arms into Afghanistan, were used to transport opium to laboratories along the Afghan/Pakistan border. The output provided up to one half of the heroin used annually in the United States and three-quarters of that used in Western Europe.

FACES OF FASCISM
We must not confuse dissent with disloyalty.
Edward R. Murrow
A room has a full-length mirror on every wall.
When you look into the mirrors you will see the ugly
FACES OF FASCISM.
The faces belong to pompous and self-righteous leaders.
The ogre-like reflections of these faces
bounce off of the other mirrors in the room,
and this will go on forever, just like the perpetual war
that these bellicose physiognomies have conceived.
Now I know the true meaning of these words by George Orwell:
“If you want a vision of the future, imagine a boot stamping on a human face -- forever.”

BRING PLUTO BACK!
Monday, July 13, from a distance of 476,000 miles.
How would you feel if someone told you one day that you were no longer a human?
Now imagine that you were a planet one day (or for almost a century), and then you were told that you were no longer a planet.
Zap!
Goodbye!
Good Riddens!
The solar system's ninth planet has been eliminated.
Number nine has been voted out.
This is not so much sad as it is wrong.
Poor Pluto.
After being so far away for so long.
After having a dog given its name.
After possessing a mystery that none of the other planets had.
Then...Poof!
You're out of here you round and puny ball of cosmic dust!
And how would Pluto's expulsion make its discoverer Clyde William Tombaugh (February 4, 1906 – January 17, 1997) feel?
Bring Pluto back!
Bring Pluto back!
Can the Long War President do anything about this?
(P. S. Pluto’s new title is dwarf planet. Better than nothing, I suppose.)
IT'S ABOUT RENEWABLE RESOURCES!

EMBRYOS AND PLANETS
The Snowball in Hell is getting bigger and bigger.
Unfortunately, this particular snowball in Hell doesn’t melt.
It's the inferno called Iraq.
I am loath to comment anymore on the Iraq War or upon the Long War President.
There is not much more to say.
However, I have had a couple of other thoughts (words) that have been bouncing about in my brain.
Frozen embryos and planets.
One woman who had triplets from IVF (In Vitro Fertilization), left behind 13 of her (and her husband’s) frozen embryos.
Embryos are not babies or teenagers, but would be if left to grow.
As it is, such embryos live in a gelid limbo.
Nowhere to go.
I also read about a woman who had her child after “defrosting” one of her embryos, and then had it implanted in her womb.
The embryo had been frozen for 12 years!
There is estimated to be 500,000 frozen embryos in the United States.
I wonder what Jonathan Swift would say about these embryos?
Planets.
We may now have 12 or more in our Solar System.
So what.
If it’s round and has gravity…call it a planet.
If it has life…call it a living planet!
That’s all I wrote today.
I am busy editing my past Letters from Mad Plato.
I want to have Volume 2 published.
The title for Letters from Mad Plato Volume II will be:
Why Are We STILL In Iraq?
I want to submit my book in this year’s Lulu Blooker Prize.

THE LAST PROPOSAL
The nations of the world will have to unite for the next war will be an interplanetary war. The nations of Earth must some day make a common front against attack by people from other planets.
-General Douglas MacArthur
What the the United States and the world ought to do to put a halt to the mad arms race was shockingly revealed in Washington last week at the annual International Conference of Amalgamated Aerospace Engineers. The conference was attended by aerospace executives, government officials and wealthy stockholders. It was closed to the Press. But fortunately one clever reporter, sporting himself as a well-to-do stockholder, slipped by security. Here is what he heard and saw.
Near the conclusion of the conference, after some very impressive and glittering speeches from all sides, a slim, old, weary-eyed gentleman stood up and took his position in front of the podium. He addressed the audience only when there was total silence.
"Gentleman, all of us here are children of the Atomic Age. Most of you cannot imagine a world devoid of earth-destroying weapons and neither can I. We have come too far to think such liberal and utopian nonsense. What I now propose, however, is the least but best option open to the international aerospace community and to the world at large. It is a proposal which can enhance profits and technology while simultaneously smooth a way for a safer earth. I propose that the United States and all nations immediately and jointly begin development of sophisticated space weapons to be used against the Aliens. You may laugh gentlemen, but mark my words, those Aliens are out there and they are fast-approaching us. Some say they are here already. They will have their weapons ready. If the nations of the world do not stop their silly shenanigans and disagreements on this planet, and soon, then those Aliens will find us like sitting ducks. It is now or never, gentlemen.
The audience, initially skeptical, now showed rising approval, and finally gave a standing ovation to the wise, old man. When the thunderous applause stopped, a listener jumped from his seat (he had not stood up like all the rest). He spoke to the old man.
"Sir, you forget, we are in a global war against terror. The aerospace industry cannot just drop its guns and stop its friendly and prosperous contract with the Pentagon. This will be disastrous! We cannot act as if we are at peace with terrorists, and that there is no war."
Then the old man spoke.
"Yes. I believe we can. We must. And the sooner the better if this world is to remain in our hands and not the Aliens."
The next day the reporter was able to get his story out. White House spokespersons were at first quiet. Then they denied such a proposal was ever given. Then they admitted that there was such a proposal. A White House official gave this report from the President on the proposal:
"The President believes that Terrorism will always be a far greater threat to our National Security than any aliens...even if they did exist. The government recognizes no enemy as permanent and irreconcilable as Terrorism. We shall, therefore, not retreat to any schemes of the far-fetched imagination. Our official policy is and shall continue to be a vigilant and strong Peace Through Strength strategy. Our national security policy for Victory in Iraq and the military defense of the Homeland will continue until the Global War on Terror is won. After that we can think about those aliens."
[I published a different version of THE LAST PROPOSAL in the Guam Tribune in 1982. It was the year that I attended the Anti-Nuclear Weapons/Great Peace March in New York City. It was also the year that my obsession with UFOS began.]
Here is an edited version I just sent to the Nation magazine:

WEAPONS OF TOMORROW
It is only War in the end that will save humanity. It is only when the world will be satiated with blood, destruction, and violence that it will wake from its present nightmare of madness---and thus it is that the coming "War of Wars" fits into the design of things.
Cheiro (1931)
Car bombs.
Bunker busters.
Nuclear bombs.
New weapons are on the horizon to supplant these weapons.
The shape of things to come fits the dark and dire outlook that H.G. Wells had in his essays Mind At The End of Its Tether.
A few seers and psychics (psychos to some) have also predicted the coming of these new and more powerful weapons.
John Hogue writes:
"The United States will use antimatter protons to enhance its smaller nuclear arsenal, reduced to a few thousand bombs by the START. The United States will try to retain its might with more "quality" weapons of mass destruction rather than quantity. By the 2030s there will be antimatter thermonuclear devices that will be a hundred thousand times more destructive than the Hiroshima blast." [1000 FOR 2000]
We might be living in Eden compared to the Hell that is to come.
Here is a somewhat more scientific description of these imminent weapons:
"In recent years it has been discovered that our universe is being blown apart by a mysterious anti-gravity effect called dark energy. Mainstream physicists are scrambling to explain this mysterious acceleration in the expansion of the universe. Some physicists even believe that the expansion will lead to "The Big Rip" when all of the matter in the universe is torn asunder -- from clusters of galaxies in deep space down to the tiniest atomic particles. The universe now appears to be made of two unknowns -- roughly 23 percent is dark matter, an invisible source of gravity, and roughly 73 percent is dark energy, an invisible anti-gravity force. Ordinary matter constitutes perhaps 4 percent of the universe."
"A few years ago the British science news journal, "New Scientist," revealed that the American military was pursuing new types of exotic bombs -- including a new class of isomeric gamma ray weapons. Unlike conventional atomic and hydrogen bombs, the new weapons would trigger the release of energy by absorbing radiation, and respond by re-emitting a far more powerful radiation. In this potential category of gamma-ray weapons, a nuclear isomer absorbs x-rays and re-emits higher frequency gamma rays. The emitted gamma radiation has been reported to release 60 times the energy of the x-rays that trigger the effect."
"The discovery of the isomer triggering effect was first reported in 1999 by an international group of scientists. Although this controversial development has remained fairly obscure, it has not been hidden from the public." [May 12, 2006/by Gary S. Bekkum, the founder of Starstream Research]
The Global Terrorist will be the nation that possesses such weapons.
Other nations will develop theirs.
History only repeats itself.

AUGUST 9, 1945
The bomb was dropped by parachute from an American B29 Bomber at 1102 local time.
It exploded about 1,625 ft (500m) above the ground and is believed to have completely destroyed the city, which is situated on the western side of the Japanese island of Kyushu.
About 30% of Nagasaki, including almost all the industrial district was destroyed by the bomb and nearly 150,000 people were killed or injured.
The bomb, nick-named "Fat Man" in a reference to Winston Churchill, measured just under 3.5m (11ft 4in) in length, had the power of 22 kilotons of TNT and weighed 4,050kg (9,000lbs).
The attacks on Hiroshima and Nagasaki were the first time atomic bombs had been used in warfare.
Residents of both cities are still suffering the physical and mental consequences of radiation to this day.
On 14 August Japan surrendered to the Allies.

A KISS OR HUG OF DEATH?
Joseph Lieberman and George W. Bush kissed.
Bill Clinton and Joseph Lieberman hugged.
It's a tie:
One kiss to one hug.
Which one is the kiss (or hug) of death will be decided today in Connecticut’s Democratic Primary.
Ned Lamont is against the Iraq War.
Lieberman is for the Iraq War.
The American people have sided with Ned Lamont.
And, soon, the GOP will likely pull out its wild card if it calls for troops to leave Iraq.
This will be just in time for the 2006 Congressional election.
The Decider (after all of those bicycle falls) has decided that those who say that Iraq now has civil war are off their rockers (my words).
Kiss a frog.
Hug a tree.

CONDOLEEZA RICE AND BIRTH PANGS
Condoleeza Rice Ambles like a Robot.
At times she resembles a
Nightmare.
Those eyes and those teeth!
The Mushroom Cloud lady says that it is time for a new Middle East.
Well, at least a new Lebanon, because Lebanon will soon be obliterated by Israel.
First there was Iraq…and now Lebanon.
The numbers of terrorists and fanatics grow and grow.
People in Lebanon and Iraq are now saying DEATH TO AMERICA and ISRAEL.
Children are saying this, too, not just radical and suicidal terrorists.
What is it that America and Israel are doing, I wonder, to produce such angry and clarion demands?
It makes me wonder what is going on.
It’s time to play the song by Marvin Gaye which asks that very question.
Oh, and if it’s not too unpatriotic, leftist or liberal…Give Peace a Chance.

TOO LITTLE TOO LATE OR JUST IN TIME
But as in the case of Napoleon, the attempt by President George W Bush to achieve his goals through the use of military force has backfired, creating the conditions for a civil war in Iraq, radicalizing the Palestinians, empowering Hezbollah in Lebanon, antagonizing the Syrians and the Iranians, and as a result, destabilizing the entire Middle East, from Iraq to Israel/Palestine through Lebanon.

"I have never painted a rosy picture.”
Donald H. Rumsfeld
At the Senate Armed Services Committee on August 3, 2006.
“War with Iraq could last, you know, six days, six weeks. I doubt six months."
Donald H. Rumsfeld
In a town hall meeting with U.S. forces in Aviano, Italy Feb. 7, 2003.
A majority of the American people now believe (finally) that the Pre-Emptive Bombing and Invasion of Iraq was a mistake.
The U.S. war and occupation in Iraq was a waste of time, money and human life.
Yes, it WAS the wrong war, at the wrong time and in the wrong place!
Now, a “mere” $50,000,000 is being rushed to central Baghdad for “emergency” measures to (finally) re-construct the devastation done by the American government.
Thank you Mr. Long War President, George W. Bush…for too little too late.
This quick fix is aimed to bolster confidence in Iraqi citizens that things are getting better.
Same old story.
Promises, promises, and more promises.
Army Gen. John Abizaid, the commander of U.S. forces in Iraq and chief of U.S. Central Command; U.S. Marine Gen. Peter Pace, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff; and Secretary of Defense Rumsfeld (always defensive) appeared before the Senate's Armed Services Committee on Thursday August 3, 2006.
Rumsfeld, as always, was more concerned about his own ego than about the war.
The generals seemed cowed and cautious.
None of these signs are without unpleasant omens.
What’s next?
It seems that Tarot cards or Ouija boards might be more accurate predictors at this late stage in the Bush Shock and Awe Pre-Emptive Iraq War and Occupation on-the-edge of civil war.
Because no one in this prevaricating Bush administration has been very accurate yet.
Don’t pass the ammunition…but say your prayers.

CAR CRASHES AND OUTER SPACE
Earth is a dangerous place.
Outer space isn’t.
Well, there is the radiation…and the cold…and the Aliens (Well…not yet!).
But traveling out there is still safer than traveling down here.
Just ask John Herschel Glenn and his wife Anna.
On Friday Glenn and his wife were in a car accident in Ohio. Glenn, 85, and his wife, Anna, will be released later on Saturday, said Louis Tejada, a nurse administrator at Grant Medical Center in Columbus.
Futuristic transportation, as portrayed at the movies, is still in the future. I was never convinced that “cars” would jet through the New York skyline any time soon.
But it sure looked nifty.
Godspeed John Glenn and Anna back to good health.

HE'S FU*KING INSANE
Today's Daily Show [8-2-06] had bad boy Jon Stewart saying the same thing about George W. Bush.
Jon said, "I give up! He's fu*king insane!"
It's becoming a routine shibboleth.
Jon appears to like this president about as much as someone likes a rotting fish or a fresh dog turd.
I realize how unpleasant these images are. Sorry.
I thought that my Letters were scathing and harsh.
But Jon has become a doyen with his critical views and portrayals of the Long War President.
The Daily Show is not Air America.
Mr. Stewart can imitate Bush's voice, or make one or two of his funny faces to caricature something the Decider has said or done that takes Air America five minutes to do.
After I heard (and saw) Jon Stewart say (again!) that Bush is fu*king insane, I wondered how much effect The Daily Show will have on the November election.
For the 2008 presidential election, Mr. Stewart has plenty of time to throw his slings and arrows of outrage.

PUMP UP THE TESTOSTERONE
The Saber Rattler-in-Chief Long War (Decider) President swaggers even when to swagger is probably not the thing to do when the world seems to be on the brink of World War III or IV.
Or maybe it is the only thing to do under such conditions.
Munching rolls and uttering foul language aren’t enough in order for testosterone to do its work.
The way to employ testosterone is for its leader to make war, or for that leader to say that its country’s military has the necessary private parts sufficiently large to make war.
Peace is for girlie men.
Kings, Emperors, Presidents and Dictators must prepare for and have war.
Each must show that his prowess and privates are loaded and cocked .
Thus it is that the Long War President rattled his sword and swung some privy parts:
“We've got a very strong military and we can deal with any threat to the homeland there is, and will, if we have to.”
I guess one would not want his and her leader to say otherwise
We would not our leader to say:
“We aren’t ready. We are too weak to face any new threats.”
Some other remarks that the Decider recently made in an interview with Neil Cavuto on July 31, 2006:
“Even if the American people don't think that we're still at war, I do, and therefore will deploy the assets of the federal government to protect us here at home."
"I think about Al Qaeda every day."
"Long-term peace for Americans will come when liberty is unleashed in the Middle East."
Unleash the testosterone!
Pump it up!

RAIN AND BOMBS
It’s raining, raining and raining here in El Paso.
All of the local TV stations are reporting on the heavy rains and flooding.
I know if I change the station and go to CNN, MSNBC or FOXNEWS, I will hear about bombs raining, raining and raining.
The world is getting wetter and warmer at the same time. It is ironic. The Midwest and the East Coast are hot. The Southwest is cool and stormy.
I know.
It is probably only a normal pattern of weather. But it makes me wonder about humanity and the future of our planet.
NASA has gone way too slow to prepare for humans to visit and seed other planets.
The moon landing was 37 years ago!
Why in Heaven’s name is the pace of exploring our galaxy going so slowly?
I guess we rely too much on Star Trek and other science fiction.
It is raining, raining and raining.
I hope there is a ceasefire…
Of the rain and bombs.

NO CEASE FIRE & CONDOLENCES FOR VICTIMS
Israel is destroying Lebanon.
Israel is destroying Lebanon in order to destroy Hizbollah.
Civilians are dying.
Hundreds and hundreds of children and women.
And men.
This is war.
We say.
This is war.
This is what happens.
Israel says that it is Lebanon’s fault that civilians are dying, because Lebanon has allowed Hizbollah to remain in Lebanon.
It is true that Iran wants to destroy Israel.
It is true that Hizbollah wants to destroy Israel.
It is understandable why Israel wants to destroy Hizbollah.
Hizbollah is a creation of Iran.
(What about Palestine? There is a great silence when Palestine is mentioned.)
We say.
This is war.
It is tragic.
It is unfortunate.
But this is war.
The bombs keep falling.
It is tragic.
It is unfortunate.

WORDS WORDS WORDS
LOCATION: The East Room
11:27 A.M. EDT
DATE: JULY 25, 2006
SPEAKERS: President Bush and the Prime Minister Maliki
He's doing it again!
But what’s new, pussycat?
The Long War President said, “Coalition and Iraqi forces will secure individual neighborhoods, will ensure the existence of an Iraqi security presence in the neighborhoods, and gradually expand the security presence as Iraqi citizens help them root out those who instiCate violence.”
I wasn’t sure that the Decider had said insticate instead of instigate. But sure enough, I listened a second time and the Long War President did say INSTICATE.
And there were other zingers as well:
"People fear democracy if your vision is based upon kind of a totalitarian view of the world."
Whose vision? The reference is ambiguous. When I first heard Mr. Bush say these words, I was jolted. My immediate thought was that the reference, even if subliminal, was to Mr. Bush’s vision. The one he got from God telling him what to do.
"Conditions change inside a country, Tom. And the question is, are we going to be facile enough to change with -- will we be nimble enough; will we be able to deal with the circumstances on the ground?"
Facile? The word facile is out of place.
And nimble? The subject here is not gymnastics or aerobics.
The Decider needs to carry an electronic Thesaurus.
And start reading more.

HEAD ON: APPLY DIRECTLY TO THE FOREHEAD
Imagination at work or
We bring good things to life?
Mottos and slogans.
American as apple pie.
The above two mottos are from General Electric.
I like the older G.E. motto: We bring good things to life.
Whenever I heard We bring good things to life, it made me think of Frankenstein, even though he (or it) wasn’t a good thing.
I am fond of slogans from the food industry:
Finger-lickin good.
Think Outside the Bun.
We love to see you smile.
Where’s the beef?
What is the longevity for these mottos and slogans?
Only time will tell.

ALL OPTIONS ARE ON THE TABLE
Ms Betty Williams was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize 30 years ago, when she circulated a petition to end violence in Northern Ireland after witnessing British soldiers shoot dead an IRA member who was driving a car.
Campaigning on the rights of young people at the Earth Dialogues forum, being held in Brisbane, Ms Williams spoke passionately about the deaths of innocent children during wartime, particularly in the Middle East, and lambasted Mr. Bush:
"Right now, I would love to kill George Bush."
[From “Peace prize winner 'could kill' Bush” by Annabelle McDonald /July 25, 2006 /www.theaustralian.news.com]
The delivery of at least 100 GBU 28 bunker busters bombs containing depleted uranium warheads by the United States to Israel for use against targets in Lebanon will result in additional radioactive and chemical toxic contamination with consequent adverse health and environmental effects throughout the middle east.
[Dr. Doug Rokke, PhD., former Director, U.S. Army Depleted Uranium project/7-24-06]
The Deceptions and War Crimes committed under the authority and direction of George W. Bush, Dick Cheney, Alberto Gonzalez, Donald Rumsfeld and Condoleeza Rice preclude America and the world from having any trust in their present or future course of actions and decisions.
Unfortunately.
Their self-conceived plans to invade Iraq were carried out by deceiving the American people and Congress.
The evidence is now indisputable.
Unfortunately.
I have just finished THE CASE FOR IMPEACHMENT: The Legal Argument for Removing President George W. Bush from Office by Dave Lindorff and Barbara Olshansky (THOMAS DUNNE BOOKS/St. Martin’s Press/May 2006).
The book calls for the impeachment of all of the above perpetrators and co-conspirators.
Cogent and precise facts are given.
Sad but true facts.
Unfortunately.
If the Long War President isn’t bombing Syria or Iran, censure and impeachment will come in November when the Democrats win back the House.
Fortunately.

Yes, between the secret spying, the deceptions leading to war and more, there is plenty to justify putting him on trial.

No, like any president, he has made a few missteps, but nothing approaching "high crimes and misdemeanors."

No, the man has done absolutely nothing wrong. Impeachment would just be a political lynching.

SCREW THE HOME PLANET---JUST LEAVE ME ALONE
"You've got a President who says global warming is a hoax, and across the Potomac river you've got a Pentagon preparing for climate wars. It's pretty scary when Bush starts to ignore his own government on this issue."
Rob Gueterbock of Greenpeace.
Although the Long War President doesn’t want to bother too much with safeguarding or saving this planet, he does want NASA to keep their eyes and machines on other
worlds :
From 2002 until this year, NASA’s mission statement (in its budget and planning documents) read: “To understand and protect our home planet; to explore the universe and search for life; to inspire the next generation of explorers ... as only NASA can.”
In February, the words “to understand and protect our home planet” were removed. In this year’s budget and planning documents, NASA'S mission is “to pioneer the future in space exploration, scientific discovery and aeronautics research.”
Of course, “scientific discovery and aeronautics research” can be translated as military development.
Dr. Hansen [who directs the Goddard Institute for Space Studies, a NASA office] said the change might reflect White House eagerness to shift the spotlight away from global warming.
“They’re making it clear that they have the authority to make this change, that the president sets the objectives for NASA, and that they prefer that NASA work on something that’s not causing them a problem,” he said.
Thus, the Decider continues to show how much he wants to forget about this planet’s health and Global Warming.
His philosophy is something like this: Let others who live after me worry about the planet’s health, just as others will have to clean up my mess in Iraq.
Yes, the earth’s denizens must wait for a more compassionate and rational leader to save their home planet.
In the meantime, George W. Bush will continue to munch his pretzels and rolls, spew out foul language, and look for those armadillos on his ranch.
Oh, and milk his camels!
Tomorrow can wait.
Today is all that matters.
Exploit other planets.
Leave me alone!

BIRTH PANGS IN THE MIDDLE EAST
According to General Wesley Clark--the Pentagon, by late 2001, was Planning to Attack Lebanon.
"[The] Five-year campaign plan [includes]... a total of seven countries, beginning with Iraq, then Syria, Lebanon, Libya, Iran, Somalia and Sudan" (Pentagon official quoted by General Wesley Clark.
Bush has blocked those who attempted to bring a stop to Israel's bombing of residential neighborhoods and civilian infrastructure, and now Bush rushes more bombs for Israel to drop on Lebanon.
Bush's war is not on terror. Bush's war is on Muslim states not ruled by American puppets. [ US Complicit In Destruction Of Lebanon/ Paul Craig Roberts/7-23-06/rense.com]
Right now the Middle East war is taking our eyes and ears away from the Iraq travesty and tragedy.
It is almost August.
It’s only a few months away from the November election.
The Middle East war is not an October surprise, but it will have to do for now.
With the full cooperation and even encouragement of the President, Israel has been preparing a coup d'main against Arab commandos both in Lebanon and Gaza and has been planning, again with the full cooperation of the White House, to use these "terrorist attacks" (deliberately provoked) on them to move militarily into Syria and "completely crush" the government there which they view as working with Iran to infiltrate deadly, long range missiles into Lebanon to attack vital targets deep inside Israel.
There also has been the intention of Israel to involve the United States in a sneak attack on Tehran using tactical nuclear weapons. The President finds himself in a position wherein he completely sympathizes with Israel's determination to crush any kind of Arab activism in the Middle East because he feels that these same activists are also Iran sponsored and are responsible for the casualties in Iraq.
The idea under discussion, according to the extracts, is for this to happen just before the U.S. midterm elections in November, to give Bush and the Republicans a desperately needed boost in public opinion.
The vile rats that put America in Iraq are now more than willing to support Israel’s devastation of Lebanon.
Unfortunately.
Suthir Amalat, carrying her child in one arm as she bought water to take home for emergencies, said she was preparing for everything to worsen.
"We are angry at Hezbollah for starting this catastrophe, but even more angry at the Israelis for destroying all of Lebanon," she said. "And America, who we thought was our friend, clearly now supports the Israeli destruction of our country."

PROOF IN THE RICE PUDDING
Joseph Cirincione, an arms expert and the author of Deadly Arsenals: Nuclear, Biological and Chemical Threats, says "The neoconservatives are now hoping to use the Israeli-Lebanon conflict as the trigger to launch a U.S. war against Syria, Iran or both."
President Bush handed Secretary Rice scary pictures of mushrooms and clouds to show everybody.
Since she wants a lasting peace, Rice will give them a piece of what is really on her mind.
The U.S. and Israel want to kill these birds (Iran-Syria-Hizbullah-Hamas-North Korea) with one big stone.
The pictures should make those getting stoned to think twice about what they want to do.

BUSH WOOS AGAIN
Isolated in their evil, the neoconservatives are frantically and shrilly demanding that Bush join Israel in military attacks on Syria and Iran in order to “build democracy” and to clear the Middle East of any opposition to Israel’s unbridled self-interest. The crazed David Horowitz writes that “Israel is doing the work of the rest of the civilized world.”
Neoconservatives believe that the US and Israel can extirpate Islam with fire and sword and that the present opportunity to escalate the current conflict into generalized war in the Middle East must not be missed.
The Unfolding Horror Show
By PAUL CRAIG ROBERTS/7-20-06/counterpunch.com
"The Republicans are very good at coming up with phony issues. Stem-cell research is a phony issue. Flag-burning is a phony issue. Reading the Bible in school is a phony issue. The real issues are health care, ending the war… The real issue is also a free America.''
[Rev. Carl Fitchett, pastor of Mt. Moriah Temple Baptist Church in Philadelphia/7-20/06]
It’s election year.
Politicians of both parties scramble for every scrap and opportunity to pamper and powder their political ambitions.
The President finally decided (he is the Decider after all) to attend a NAACP Convention.
Although the Long War President says that polls aren’t important to him, his attendance at the NAACP gathering is not without its effect on polls, as negligible as it may be.
After many mistakes, fabrications and disasters during his administration, the Long War Decider-Prevaricator President will do anything to help maintain his imperial reign, and also to help the Republican minions hold on to their own seats of power.
Thus, he came to the NAACP with his heart and hand open to woo votes.
His speech to the NAACP (whoever wrote it) made sure that it pushed all of the right, obsequious buttons.
It is probable that his audience knew that they were being wooed, but were themselves polite and deferential to a U.S. President, even though for this president the U.S. Constitution is just a “goddamned piece of paper”.

WHAT A DISGRACE UNDER GOD
While the White House and Downing Street still refuse to use the phrase ‘civil war’ Iraqis in the centre of the country have no doubt what is happening. Baghdad mortuary alone received 1,595 bodies in June.
"Massacres Soar in Central Iraq: Maliki Government Discredited"
By PATRICK COCKBURN/July 19, 2006/counterpunch.com
Sweden evacuated 2,300 of its citizens the next day after bombing began in Lebanon.
Déjà vu Katrina: the Bush administration has taken one week.
But the Long War President, Mr. Compassionate Conservative, and the anti-minimum wage and greedy Congress, finally did decide that they would not charge Americans to pay for their tickets out of Lebanon.
What a disgrace.
The U.S. House of Representatives is now voting on a resolution (HR 2389) that would prevent federal judges from challenging the phrase “under God” and ruling that it is unconstitutional.
The U.S. House was also discussing an increase in the minimum wage.
The Long War Prevaricator (Decider) President still gets billions for his Iraq War (and Congress kisses his prevaricating backside), but shun an increase in the minimum wage of the citizens who pay for his horrendous war.
But if Republicans and this Long War President want to really pay attention to the voice of the people, and pledge allegiance to the United States of America (UNDER GOD!), then they should give their attention to withdrawing from the Iraq War, increase assistance to victims of the Katrina catastrophe, and intervene more actively for a ceasefire in the Middle East crisis.
Instead, Republicans devote their (highly paid) time to issues such as flag-burning, Gay marriage, the Pledge of Allegiance.
What a disgrace.

A NEW MUSHROOM CLOUD: KARL ROVE NEWT GINGRICH AND WORLD WAR III
Make the lie big, make it simple, keep saying it, and eventually they will believe it.
Adolph Hitler
KR: Hello. Newt Gingrich? This is ol’ Turd Blossom calling. Fine. How are you?
NG: Doing well. Hey, it looks like you escaped the knife with the Plame problem.
KR: Yeah. So far so good. But look out if the Republicans can’t keep the House in November.
And that’s why I’m calling.
NG: Really. What’s up?
KR: Well, Newt, I need your help.
NG: Help?
KR: Yes. With the November election, and then, the 2008 election.
NG: Sure. What can I do to help?
KR: Well, Newt, I know you’d like to be president in 2008, and I want to help you.
NG: Thank you. I’m flattered. Talk to me.
KR: Well, Newt, I need you to throw a little curve ball…sort of a time bomb…at the country.
NG: O.K. What kind of bomb?
KR: I’d like you to scare the hell out of the people so that they won’t elect the liberal Democratic sissies.
NG: O.K. What should I do?
KR: Well, it’s really what I’d like you to say.
NG: Say?
KR: Yeah. I want you to start saying that the current crisis in the Middle East is the beginning of World War III.
NG: Right. Isn’t it?
KR: Well, Newt, that’s not what’s important. What’s important is to make the American people think that it’s World War III. If we can make them believe this, they’ll worry less about Iraq.
NG: Right. O.K. I’ll step up to the plate and ring the World War III death knell.
KR: Thanks Newt. Keep ringing it. You’ll hear from me as soon as GW leaves…or gets impeached.

SH*T- EATING -AND SWAGGERING
I wasn’t offended when the Long War President said the word sh*t.
What was offensive was the way he was eating that roll (or whatever it was).
The Long War President even swaggers as he eats!
It was disgusting to watch his mouth open and close as he munched his roll (or whatever it was); and then he would pause in his munching to speak to Tony Blair; and then he got back to munching some more on his roll (or whatever it was).
Can you imagine what it looks like when the Long War President is munching pretzels and drinking beer?
Kind of makes you nostalgic to see papa throwing up!

BUSH SNOW AND ENGLISH
But if thought corrupts language, language can also corrupt thought.
George Orwell
In a time of universal deceit - telling the truth is a revolutionary act.
George Orwell
Just like his prevaricating boss, Long War President George W. Bush, White House Press Secretary Tony Snow has some issues with the English language.
It must be an offshoot of the bird (i.e. word) flu virus.
I had to read the following sentence a couple of times:
"We think it's important that, in doing that, they try to limit as much as possible the so-called collateral damage, not only on civilians but also on human lives," Snow said.
Does Mr. Snow draw a distinction between human lives and civilians?
Snow's statement is the stupidest thing I have ever read (although Bush might have one more stupid somewhere.)
Snow made the statement in response to Bush's comment to Prime Minister Fuad Saniora that Israelis have a right to protect themselves.
Snow also shows a careless and cold regard for civilian deaths when he calls them "so-called collateral damage".
Mr. Snow, what would you call killing innocent civilians?
The president and Mr. Snow need to start taking Freshman English again.
[It now turns out that Tony Snow actually said facilities not civilians. Maybe only one of them needs to take Freshman English.]

BUSH SH*T
Will the poop of Bush be signed, sealed and delivered to the U.S. from the Group of Eight summit in Italy?
Bush's poop and piss are top secret MATTER.
The Long War President's feces were flown back to the U.S. from Vienna back in June.
Bush even had his own toilet and toilet paper brought to Vienna where he attended the U.S.-European Union (EU) Summit June 21.
One wonders what state secrets dwell within Bush's fecal matter.
But all of this is no surprise.
Bush has already denied access to all of the presidential papers belonging to his daddy, himself, and other presidents.
This really stinks!
But who gives a poop?
On November 1, 2001, President Bush issued an executive order entitled "Further Implementation of the Presidential Records Act." His order effectively overturned an act of Congress and a Supreme Court decision and could make it far more difficult for Americans to learn of government abuses. Jonathan Turley, a George Washington University law professor, declared that the executive order "effectively rewrote the Presidential Records Act, converting it from a measure guaranteeing public access to one that blocks it."

SNAKE OIL AND PHARMACEUTICALS
Some 21% of all medicines are prescribed to treat conditions for which they're not approved, and some 73% of these uses lack strong evidence supporting their use.
Reader's Digest/August 2006/Health IQ by DR. ROIZEN & DR. OZ
I know I have an obsession with conspiracies.
I have one more.
I was watching TV this morning and saw a river of Atripla gushing down a chute in some factory.
Millions and millions of big tablets for AIDS patients.
My first thought: AIDS was created to make Pharmaceutical Companies even richer.
This proposition seems so unlikely that I might believe it.
Atripla combines into one pill what three do separately.
That doesn't sound bad.
But will the cost go up or down?
I am amazed (but not really that surprised) when reports come out years later saying how the drugs we took are now giving us cancer and heart attacks etc.
There are no traveling medicine shows today, only endless TV commericials about endless kinds of wonder drugs.
It makes me wonder.
I wonder how many drugs are really bad for us, and how many are good for us.
Sure, these drugs relieve symptons of one ailment, but they then produce their own negative effects.
Take one and call me in the morning.

IMPEACH NOW
Should Dick Cheney and George W. Bush be impeached?
Why?
Why not?
This is not a partisan matter.
In fact, it is a BIPARTISAN matter of great importance.
For the good of the United States, and for the good of tomorrow’s children, this leadership which has misled its citizens and the world must be brought to justice.
Although I have not yet read THE CASE FOR IMPEACHMENT: The Legal Argument for Removing George W. Bush from Office by Dave Lindorff and Barbara Olshansky, I shall read it.
I expect my own opinion that the Long War President and all of his henchmen should be impeached will be bolstered.
It is time to act.
It is time for action.
This administration’s machinations and fabrications shall not be allowed to stand.
Below are a few salient points about impeachment.
“The process of congressional hearings that impeachment entails rips apart the lies and deceptions; the duplicities and deceit; the cover-ups and crimes of the officials being investigated. Indeed, the high crimes and misdemeanors that the impeached official is charged with become apparent during this process. Let us hope that those in the Bush administration that this book charges with said offenses will face such a fate.”
”In 1973 and 1974, as the Nixon administration circled its wagons, there was a fear that the fragile freedoms and structures defined in the US constitution would become history unless Richard Nixon was removed from office. It is Lindorff and Olshansky's contention that this is an even more likely--and frightening--possibility if George Bush is not impeached.”
“The complicity of the Congress and the courts proves that the attack on the Constitution is being waged from all three divisions of the US government. Impeaching Bush and Cheney would not end the assault, but it would strike a mighty blow. Like the Hydra of Herculean legend, the beast of despotism has but one essential head and, when that head is destroyed, the Hydra will be, too. The White House is that essential head.”

STRANGE VOICES
Rita Cosby.
What's up with her voice?
Rita sounds as if she has been underwater forever and now has a chronic cold.
Or is she permanently hoarse?
How do you describe the sounds which come out of her nasal and oral conduits?
Maybe I should not be so critical of her voice.
She possibly had an injury.
Or perhaps this has always been the sound of her voice.
Rosie Perez has a strange voice.
There's another actress (the name escapes me) whose nasal and twangy cackle is very annoying.
I've always been amused by Eddie Murphey's laugh, and I do pretty well at imitating it.
Hee-hee-hee-hee-hee.

ASSES AND BIN LADEN
“We’ve got a lot of *asses looking for bin Laden...no IFS, ANDS or BUTTS.”
George W. Bush
The Long War President actually said *assets, but I couldn’t resist. Or maybe he didn’t. It’s the same old story.
