HOT POTATOES AND MIGHTY IFS

The WAR ON TERROR hasn't been mentioned much lately.

The Congressional election saw some dragon puffs erupting out of the Long War President and some GOP members, telling us that a vote for the Democrats was a vote for the terrorists.

Wasn't that a most ridiculous and insulting allegation?

These shameless enunciations (and denunciations) about terrorists were intended to scare and to garner votes and approval for this shameless and sham administration.
They were self-serving, crooked and dishonorable.

When the Russians were coming (and they were always coming), the Pentagon was able to keep its till full.

Now that the terrorists are coming and coming (especially during elections) the Pentagon's till remains full.

The terrorists are coming in greater numbers now as a result of George W. Bush’s premeditated, self-made, pre-emptive, unnecessary war.

If (and this is a Mighty IF) we are to believe many critics these days who allege that 9-11 was both stoppable and possibly permitted to happen, then the War on Terror is as much its own homegrown danger as it is an outside threat.

The term "New Pearl Harbor" was taken directly from the declaration of principles in the neo-con "Project for the New American Century." The document said, in order to succeed in their project, a significant amount of money needed to be funneled to the military annually, and this would be a slow process, save a "catastrophic and catalyzing event—like a new Pearl Harbor."
Daniel Boniface (editorial@boulderweekly.com)

A few things are still quite puzzling and troubling about September 11, 2001:

Why didn’t the leadership of our mighty nation order attack planes to shoot down the terror-planes?

[NOTE: Norman Mineta is former Secretary of Transportation]

MR. HAMILTON: I wanted to focus just a moment on the Presidential Emergency Operating Center. You were there for a good part of the day. I think you were there with the vice president. And when you had that order given, I think it was by the president, that authorized the shooting down of commercial aircraft that were suspected to be controlled by terrorists, were you there when that order was given?

MR. MINETA: No, I was not. I was made aware of it during the time that the airplane coming into the Pentagon. There was a young man who had come in and said to the vice president, "The plane is 50 miles out. The plane is 30 miles out." And when it got down to, "The plane is 10 miles out," the young man also said to the vice president, "Do the orders still stand?" And the vice president turned and whipped his neck around and said, "Of course the orders still stand. Have you heard anything to the contrary?"

MR. HAMILTON: With respect to Flight 93, what type of information were you and the vice president receiving about that flight?

MR. MINETA: The only information we had at that point was when it crashed.

MR. HAMILTON: I see. You didn't know beforehand about that airplane.

MR. MINETA: I did not.

MR. HAMILTON: And so there was no specific order there to shoot that plane down.

MR. MINETA: No, sir.

MR. HAMILTON: But there were military planes in the air in position to shoot down commercial aircraft.

MR. MINETA: That's right. The planes had been scrambled, I believe, from Otis at that point.

Why was all of the debris from the Twin Towers shipped away…without any analysis?

1.8 million tons of debris removed
(108,342 truckloads)
3.1 million hours of labor spent on cleanup

Why was a passport of a purported terror-pilot found, but none of the black boxes (THAT ALWAYS SURVIVE CRASHES)?

If the impact destroyed the planes’ supposedly crash-proof flight-recorder black boxes, how was the FBI able to find, in perfect condition, the passport of Satam al Suqami, one of the alleged American Airlines Flight 11 hijackers?

THE ELECTION'S OVER IT'S TIME FOR CHANGE

Unless Congress takes a stand and aggressively pursues impeachment of George W. Bush, it looks as if Democrats will spend their time on other issues such as Health Care, the Minimum Wage...oh, and the Iraq War.

(The Congress should also work on restoring environmental policies that the Decider’s administration has killed.)

The smooching and peace-pipe smoking that Democrats and the Long War President have been doing will most certainly pass away into the ozone.

Or maybe not.

Some believe that Democrats and Republicans are “owned” by the same corporations.

Impeachment, censure and other investigations of the Decider and his regime might return as hot potatoes in the 2008 presidential election.

Or maybe not.

Until then, the Decider and his henchpersons get their reprieve and respite from a necessary catharsis and condemnation of their wicked war.

Politics as usual.

Figuring out how to extricate the U.S. from Iraq is more important right now than scrutiny and public disclosure of the deceptive, boondoggling causes which produced the pre-emptive and illegal invasion.

Heal wounds and save the patient, then go after the causative agents.

American amnesia might even permit this administration to slither away unpunished, uncensured, un-impeached.

But this is what democrats.com has posted:

Ten Reasons to Impeach George Bush and Dick Cheney
I support the impeachment of President Bush and Vice President Cheney for the following reasons:

1. Violating the United Nations Charter by launching an illegal "War of Aggression" against Iraq without cause, using fraud to sell the war to Congress and the public, and misusing government funds to begin bombing without Congressional authorization.

2. Violating U.S. and international law by authorizing the torture of thousands of captives, resulting in dozens of deaths, and keeping prisoners hidden from the International Committee of the Red Cross.

3. Violating the Constituton by arbitrarily detaining Americans, legal residents, and non-Americans, without due process, without charge, and without access to counsel.

4. Violating the Geneva Conventions by targeting civilians, journalists, hospitals, and ambulances, and using illegal weapons, including white phosphorous, depleted uranium, and a new type of napalm.

5. Violating U.S. law and the Constitution through widespread wiretapping of the phone calls and emails of Americans without a warrant.

6. Violating the Constitution by using "signing statements" to defy hundreds of laws passed by Congress.

7. Violating U.S. and state law by obstructing honest elections in 2000, 2002, 2004, and 2006.

8. Violating U.S. law by using paid propaganda and disinformation, selectively and misleadingly leaking classified information, and exposing the identity of a covert CIA operative working on sensitive WMD proliferation for political retribution.

9. Subverting the Constitution and abusing Presidential power by asserting a "Unitary Executive Theory" giving unlimited powers to the President, by obstructing efforts by Congress and the Courts to review and restrict Presidential actions, and by promoting and signing legislation negating the Bill of Rights and the Writ of Habeas Corpus.

10. Gross negligence in failing to assist New Orleans residents after Hurricane Katrina, in ignoring urgent warnings of an Al Qaeda attack prior to Sept. 11, 2001, and in increasing air pollution causing global warming.

Many citizens opt for the Impeachment road now.
Here is a vote on the Internet that MSNBC conducted:

Yes, between the secret spying, the deceptions leading to war and more, there is plenty to justify putting him on trial.

No, like any president, he has made a few missteps, but nothing approaching "high crimes and misdemeanors."

No, the man has done absolutely nothing wrong. Impeachment would just be a political lynching.

WAR AND PEACE

This Maliki fellow is scary-looking.
Saddam had quite a scary mug.
Maliki isn't any Russell Crowe.
First thing:
his moustache should go.
It will diminish the ominous look.
Second thing: d
ress casual once in awhile.

The Iraqi government stays inside the protective asylum of the Green Zone.
If the resistance were to win, they could look forward to occupying the comfortable U.S. Embassy (largest one on the planet) and the Green Zone.
This is not likely to occur. The U.S. just won't allow it to happen.
But an opposition continues to pound and pepper the Green Zone.

Meanwhile, on Veterans Day a dedication was given in Quantico, Virginia for the $90,000,000 military MUSEUM OF THE MARINE CORPS.
Maybe one day there will be a dedication for a large MUSEUM OF PEACE.
But don't hold your breath.
War gets more press and sells better than peace.
Unfortunately.

GATES TO HEAVEN OR HELL?

Yes, Democrats have won the Senate and the House of Representatives, but some voices are warning against premature euphoria.

There are warnings about the resignation (firing) of Donald Rumsfeld and about his replacement Robert M. Gates.

***

Robert M. Gates is one of the American intelligence officials who established intimate ties with Osama bin Laden during the CIA-backed war that shattered Afghan society. [Before continuing, here is a brief explanation for the latter allegation.}:

Question: The former director of the CIA, Robert Gates, stated in his memoirs ["From the Shadows"], that American intelligence services began to aid the Mujahadeen in Afghanistan 6 months before the Soviet intervention. In this period you were the national security adviser to President Carter. You therefore played a role in this affair. Is that correct?

Brzezinski: Yes. According to the official version of history, CIA aid to the Mujahadeen began during 1980, that is to say, after the Soviet army invaded Afghanistan, 24 Dec 1979. But the reality, secretly guarded until now, is completely otherwise Indeed, it was July 3, 1979 that President Carter signed the first directive for secret aid to the opponents of the pro-Soviet regime in Kabul. And that very day, I wrote a note to the president in which I explained to him that in my opinion this aid was going to induce a Soviet military intervention.

Q: Despite this risk, you were an advocate of this covert action. But perhaps you yourself desired this Soviet entry into war and looked to provoke it?

B: It isn't quite that. We didn't push the Russians to intervene, but we knowingly increased the probability that they would.

Q: When the Soviets justified their intervention by asserting that they intended to fight against a secret involvement of the United States in Afghanistan, people didn't believe them. However, there was a basis of truth. You don't regret anything today?

B: Regret what? That secret operation was an excellent idea. It had the effect of drawing the Russians into the Afghan trap and you want me to regret it? The day that the Soviets officially crossed the border, I wrote to President Carter. We now have the opportunity of giving to the USSR its Vietnam war. Indeed, for almost 10 years, Moscow had to carry on a war unsupportable by the government, a conflict that brought about the demoralization and finally the breakup of the Soviet empire.

Q: And neither do you regret having supported the Islamic fundamentalism, having given arms and advice to future terrorists?

B: What is most important to the history of the world? The Taliban or the collapse of the Soviet empire? Some stirred-up Moslems or the liberation of Central Europe and the end of the cold war?

As such, he (Gates) played a role in fostering the very Islamist terrorists who ultimately carried out 9/11. Nothing could express more starkly the cynicism of America’s ruling elite than Bush’s touting such a record as a qualification for leading the 'war on terror.'

Gates’s ties to terrorism do not end with bin Laden. In the mid-1980s he was tied to the network of White House operatives and CIA agents who organized the 'Iran-contra' operation, in which covert arms sales to Iran were used to provide illegal funding for the US-backed 'contra' terror war against Nicaragua. He has likewise been linked to covert efforts in the 1980s to supply weapons to the Iraqi regime of Saddam Hussein during its
war against Iran.

And:
Free humans worldwide who have discovered the real truth about 9/11 will never stop until the military industrial complex mass-murderers who carried out the attacks are brought to justice. In major polls, the majority of Americans and the people of the world know that 9/11 was an inside job. State-sponsored terror is the fount of globalist power and must be shattered if humanity has any chance to be free in the future.
The explosive momentum of 9/11 truth for the moment is dimming, but like a fire that is dying, we must re-double our efforts and throw on even more fuel-- that fuel is truth. And the ocean of lies poured out by the controlled-corporate media will never extinguish our flames.
We cannot go back to sleep while the Democratic leadership shares power with the psychopathic terrorists who carried out 9/11.
It took over forty years for 80% of the people to learn that the Kennedy assassination was a black-op; in less than five years, the majority of Americans have learned that 9/11 was the same.
Anyone who runs defense for the perpetrators of 9/11-- Nancy Pelosi, Howard Dean or anyone who supports them in their cover-up-- are traitors. Think about it: George Bush and his controllers killed 3,000 Americans, launched an illegal war and then butchered the Bill of Rights. And we're all supposed to go back to sleep now because a bunch of seedy Democrats are in lip-locks, sharing power with Bush?

Could anyone be worse than Donald Rumsfeld as Defense Secretary? Well, how about an old Bush Family factotum who was hip-deep in the Iran-Contra arms-drugs-terror scam, who doctored, spun and manipulated intelligence for partisan purposes and also steered secret U.S. military intelligence to help Saddam Hussein launch WMD attacks? Oh, plus someone who has no experience whatsoever of the military? Sounds like a dream candidate; and of course our Dear Leader -- manfully shaking off the great slap he took from the ungrateful American people who clearly don't deserve such sterling leadership -- has found him.
Gates was also hip-deep in what was probably the greatest act of treason in American history since Benedict Arnold: the "October Surprise" of 1980, when VP candidate (and former CIA chief) George H.W. Bush and his CIA moles cut a secret deal with Iran to keep the American hostages held captive until after the election and Reagan's inauguration. In return, Bush and his boss Reagan agreed to unfreeze Iranian assets in the U.S., release $150 million in pre-revolution military equipment for Iran that Jimmy Carter hand impounded after the Shah was overthrown, and promises of future secret military aid (which was funneled through Israel).

A CORNERED ANIMAL

Perhaps it best that I and others stop bashing George W. Bush.
It is dangerous.
We don't want this president to get so depressed and upset that he starts lobbing bombs again in another pre-emptive war.
We don't want him smoking out and bringing on more debts, deaths and terrorists...
Do we?
A cornered animal is dangerous.
The Democratic victory has put George W. Bush in a corner.
Not too many subpoenas right away.
No too much impeaching yet.
Let him stay at the ranch for some time to chase a lot of armadillos...thin out the brush...do a lot of barbecuing...
Of those birds that Dick Cheney kills.

This president ignored the country and the voices of its people...until November 7, 2006.
But he's still winking, smirking and joking.

Nah…let the bashing continue.

P.S. Wasn’t it obvious that Donald Rumsfeld was giving the finger to that reporter who asked Rummy to give himself a grade for his performance as Secretary of Horror.
Rumsfeld pretended to scratch his nose with the FU digit.
Shame on you Donald Rumsfeld!
Your grade is F!

The bamboozling bluster and bold bravura bombed.
The silly jokes and the asinine one-liners blew up in their faces.
Then...an embattled and embarassed Secretary of War...
I mean Defense...
Threw in his inept helmet.

Now the Long War President has to work with (and for) the Democratic majority...and the American people!
It is a happy day.
But there is plenty to be done to undo what the Decider's Dishonest Neo-Con administration has done to the American economy, to the United States Constitution, to Iraq, and to the World at large.
I know that the Iraq War will not stop on a dime.
But I am more confident that there is more light at the end of (and inside) the dark tunnel.
The Long War President can say as King Lear did that he was
"more sinned against than sinning."

Both are wrong.

THE PEOPLE HAVE SPOKEN!

Thank ye gods and stars!
Congratulations to the American Voting Public!
Part of the nightmare is over!
We may start to get our country BACK!

Karl Rove, your math and polls have been proven wrong!
Your big brain isn’t as big as you or the Decider thought it was.
Your Lies can now be investigated.
Your administration can now be investigated.
Your siege and hubris can now be challenged.

What you have done to the Constitution of the United States (Just a “Goddamned piece of paper” to the Long War President) can now be undone.
YOU CAN RUN BUT YOU CAN'T HIDE!

BLOOD FOR OIL!

"We've climbed the mighty mountain. I see the valley below, and it's a valley of peace."
George W. Bush

We are in Iraq to spread Democracy.
We are in Iraq to find WMD.
We are in Iraq so I can continue to get a steady supply of camels.
We are in Iraq so the twins will be proud of their War daddy.
We are in Iraq until the deserts become seas again.
Forget all of the above.
WE ARE IN IRAQ FOR…OIL!
Hah, hah, hah, hah, hah, hah, hah, hah, hah, hah!

"You can imagine a world in which these extremists and radicals got control of energy resources. And then you can imagine them saying, 'We're going to pull a bunch of oil off the market to run your price of oil up unless you do the following. And the following would be along the lines of, well, 'Retreat and let us continue to expand our dark vision.' "

GET ME OUT OF HERE

The Decider-Torturer Long War President may be planning a getaway if Democrats return to power this coming Tuesday.
The Decider may face litigation after he leaves office, but while he is still there he may have the heat of impeachment breathing down his stubborn neck.
Hence, a plan to get the heck out of Dodge should the hammer start pounding on his unilateral head (or a guillotine falling).
The Paraguayan refuge should also make room for other members of the Long War President's administration.
If Democrats do not prevail November 7, Revolution is the only thing left.

International speculation presumes that the Bushes have taken the advice of their family’s consigliores to maintain a bolt-hole hideaway—in this case, a huge ranch in Paraguay—just in case of the eruption of problematic or discomforting political developments in their homeland.
Given the rapidly multiplying constellation of crises and criticisms hitting his presidency in its metaphorical face, President Bush has taken the extraordinary step of investing in a tract of private real estate. For the past week, the international press has been spellbound by reports that Jenna Bush, the president’s daughter, has negotiated a real estate transaction in upper Paraguay for a huge ranch even by Texas standards. Now international speculation presumes that the Bushes have taken the advice of their family’s consigliores to maintain a bolt-hole hideaway just in case of the eruption of problematic or discomforting political developments in their homeland.

From my undergraduate history of the Cold War, I seem to recall that after the Allied victory in World War Two, the northern reaches of Paraguay provided a haven for Nazi war criminals—including Dr. Josef Mengele. A rogue Nazi, a rogue president—a remote refuge for rogues in the mists of Paraguay - is that a coincidence—or not?

THANK YOU KEITH OBERMANN

I woke up around 2 A.M. from a rather erotic sci-fi dream in which I was the main character who had supernatural powers.
I went back to sleep and my action-packed dream continued.
Then I woke up again at 3 A.M.
I didn't feel tired, but I knew that I didn't want to stay up.
I needed my beauty sleep.
But before I could return to sleep, I started thinking about the powerful things that Keith Obermann had said at the end of his program last night.
I thought to myself, "Keith Obermann should be the next president's press secretary. Or maybe even the Secretary of State.”
Keith Obermann...what a decent and truth-telling person!
No one else has had the guts and gumption to tell
it like it should be told.
Mr. Obermann's soul is raging and firing back at an arrogant and duplicitous George W. Bush.
Thank you Keith Obermann!

SAME DUCKS

The Decider doesn't want Dick Cheney or Donald Rumsfeld to leave him.
The Decider doesn't want to leave Iraq.
Neither do Donald or Dick.
These are the same ducks quacking the same quacky tune.
John Kerry was right to allege that the Decider's low I.Q. was responsible for the current Iraq debacle.
(Greed, Deception and Vainglory were also big factors.)

6 out of 10 Americans now think that the Decider is NOT winning in Iraq.
About the same number believe it would have been better had Saddam Hussein stayed in power.

It doesn't take a genius to see why.
But Donald, Dick and the Decider are not mental giants.
And tomorrow's historians may write that they were mental midgets.
If electronic voting machines don't cheat us (again), then all three may be asked to leave.

PUT UP YOUR DUKES!

TEHRAN, Iran -Iran's firebrand president warned on Monday that his country would offer an "appropriate and firm response" to any U.N. sanction over its nuclear program.
[Associated Press By Nasser Karimi]

I am Mahmoud Ahmadinejad!
I am in a bad mood and I am mad!
But I am firm about my intentions.
I will not back down from my resolve to go forward with my nuclear enrichment.
The big powers want to squeeze me like a pimple and shrink my nuclear ambitions.
I am not your Persian toy!
I am not your little Persian feline to be played with.
I will send a firm and appropriate response.
I will send you a very old, smelly, sand-encrusted turban!
Wrap it around your big, fat, twisted capitalistic heads!
Begin putting up your dukes!
I’m going to get some nukes!

THE PARTY OF SPENDERS

The presidency of George W. Bush has spent and spent and spent.
It has spent money and it has spent human lives; it has spent our Freedom and it has spent our Liberty.
The Long War President’s Deputy Chief of Staff Karl Rove has warned that the Democrats will raise taxes.
That's right, Karl, they will have to raise taxes because of all the money that has been spent and spent and spent...BY REPUBLICANS!
More and more taxes will be needed in order to PAY FOR
YOUR MASSIVE DEBTS...and now this and the next generation of American citizens, and many after these, will pay and pay and pay.
The rich have paid much less for the Decider’s hatched, fabricated, mendacious and iniquitous invasion and occupation of Iraq than the poor and middle class.
The poor pay and the rich play while soldiers and the innocent die.

MORE DEBTS AND DEATHS MORE BLOOD AND TEARS

Karl Rove said that he has The Math.
And that he has his own polls.
He is quite sure that the GOP will stay in power as the majority party.
Maybe Rove is smug because he knows that electronic voting machines will be the failsafe way for the Republicans to win.
There has been plenty of time for this country to get its
"act" together with these electronic voting machines.
It is almost as if the ruling junta has prevented a paper trail from being established for the November election.
Why wasn't a law passed to ensure that voters' votes would be tallied with a paper record, not just with electrons.
If the Democrats lose in November, it is a sure sign that this nation has nearly become a dictatorship.
BushDumb will continue.
The tragic and wrong Iraq War will continue.
More Debts and Deaths.
More Blood and Tears.

ON SEAN HANNITY

I rarely watch him.
I rarely watch the FOX NEWS channel either.
But Sean Hannity is a squeaking poster boy for the Republicans.
He is the talking head and obsequious lap-dog for the Torturer-in-Chief Long War President.
He is a cute and likeable young man who has been loyal to the lies of the Bush cabal.
He and Rush Limbaugh are two peas in a pod.
Rush does have more bats in his belfry.
To be fair and balanced, Air America also has its own squeaking, talking heads.
I turn the radio off when all that is being said is rant and fomentation.
Still, Mr. Hannity would be a self-righteous and feel-good guy if he was riding on one of the four horses of the Apocalypse.

Bless you Rush Limbaugh!
You have just helped Democrats to win back the Senate!
Whatever medication YOU are on Mr. Limbaugh, keep taking the stuff!

Keep evacuating your silly and shocking offal.

I write to shake up the norm and status quo.
I write to disembowel the lies from those who tell them.
I write to wake up the gullible who accept the gospel and propaganda of their government without any critical thinking.
I write to liberate.
I write to illuminate and incriminate.
I write to amuse and accuse.
I write to vent and rant; but I hope with cool and clear reason---not with vague and hot unreason.
I do not write for money.
I do not receive money.
I write to open eyes.
I write to open hearts and minds.

STAY OFF THE COURSE

“Stay the course also means don’t leave before the job is done. And that’s — we’re going to get the job done in Iraq. And it’s important that we do get the job done in Iraq.”
George W. Bush

Alright, I will get off of my old hobby horse and stop saying that WE WILL STAY THE COURSE in Iraq.
Now, I will say GET THE JOB DONE.
Yeah, get the job done.
Victory.
Get the job done.
Get off the course.
Get the job done.
Victory.
History repeats itself. I am just repeating history.
Get the job done.
Get the job done.
Victory.
Yeah, that's the ticket.

THE FACE OF DICTATORSHIP

As I lay awake
There came an awful voice
From across the land,
And with great power
It showed me
The Face of a Dictator.

I saw Murder on the way-
He had a disguise like Dick Cheney-
Very smooth he looked, yet solemn-
Seven vampires followed him:

All were fat; and well they might
Be in bloodthirsty plight,
Because every day, and every night,
He tossed them human hearts to eat
Which from his wide suit he’d take.

Next came Fraud, and he had on,
Like Donald Rumsfeld, a scarlet scowl;
His huge tears, for he wept well,
Changed to hard rocks as they fell.

And the poor, irradiated children who
Before his feet played back and forth,
Believing every tear a gem,
Got their brains knocked out by him.

Covered with the Bible, as with light,
And the phantoms of the night,
Like Pat Robertson or Jerry Falwell, next, Demagoguery
On a serpent slithered by.

And many more Murders were
In this loathsome masquerade,
All hidden, even to the eyes,
Like terrorists, lawyers, or spies.

Finally, the Dictator arrived:
He rode in a black limousine,
Splashed with blood;
He was pale most in the lips,
Like Death in the Apocalypse.

And he wore a kinglike crown,
But in his hands were skull and bones;
From his mouth these words I heard-
I am your Long War President,
The Torturer and the Decider…..
Only
The obedient and faithful shall survive!

A KILLER BOOK

Where were you when the verdict was read in the O.J. Simpson trial?
What was your reaction to the verdict?
Astonishment?
Shock?
Well, that verdict just got trumped with news that Mr. Simpson is writing (or has written) a thriller about a murder.
Who's the character in his book who does the murdering?
That's right, none other than O.J. Simpson.
This was an easy book to write.
After all, real experience is the best teacher and the best source.
Every page of O.J.'s book should be the color of blood.
And put the DNA code of his blood on the front cover.
Any profits from this tome should be paid to his children.
A killer shouldn’t make any profits from his foul deeds.

SOMETHING IS FISHY

The other night I ate lobster.
It was my birthday, so I went hog-wild and splurged.
The last time that I had lobster I baked my own tasty crustaceans.
(No squealing sounds were uttered because mine were already dead and frozen).
As I forked the white bits of my plump lobster, then dipped them into a warm buttery oil that was inside a metal vessel sitting upon a little burning candle, I began to wonder (unfortunately) about what I was eating.
How much Omega 3 and mercury were in lobster…my lobster?.
A few feet away were four aquariums filled with good-sized fish. I am certain that they were happy that they were in their watery abodes instead of on my table.
The next day I searched the Internet to find out the mercury content of lobsters.
Not too high, but not too low either.
Well, I guess I can move faster with some mercury inside of me.
But I won't eat any more lobster for awhile. I’ll wait until my next birthday.
To get my Omega 3 I'll need to eat other fish.
Studies are now proclaiming that Omega 3 can significantly reduce heart attacks.
I wonder if lobsters ever have heart attacks? Maybe just before they get dropped into boiling water!

SEND IN THE CLONES

The clones have come out of the barn.
The FDA will soon approve the sale of milk and meat from cloned cows.
What does it matter?
We beef eaters (who doth harm our own wits) won't know the difference.
Got milk?
Cloned or uncloned?
God allowed the brains of humans to create other means to reproduce life.
Is that God's fault?
Is it an earthly miracle?
I don’t know.
Drink your milk and eat your meat.

STAYER OF THE CORPSE KILLER OF HABEAS CORPUS

STAY THE CORPSE!
WINNING COMES AT A COST!
I FEEL YOUR PAIN!
NO PAIN NO GAIN!
STAY THE CORPSE!
BRING 'EM ON!
SMOKE 'EM OUT!
DEAD OR ALIVE!
STAY THE CORPSE!
I'M THE DECIDER!
I'M THE TORTURER!
I'M THE LONG WAR PRESIDENT!
WINNING COMES AT A COST!
STAY THE CORPSE!

PRESIDENT HILLARY CLINTON

Imagine when Bill Clinton is back in the White House.
All of that free time for Big Macs and vacuuming.
But Hillary will warn Bill:
"Honey, I'm now the president. And I'll put your rocks in a sling if you have any more Lewinsky's in the White House. Play by my rules or move out."
Bill, of course, would be Mrs. Clinton's chief adviser...and play by her rules.
His presidential experience would be quite valuable.
Right now we have a moron living with a librarian.
Hillary and Bill will restore a respectable I.Q. to the Oval Office.
The American people will get double the bang for their taxpaying buck.
I’d much rather look at Hillary's pretty face each week than the faces of Mr. McCain, Mr. Biden, Mr. Obama, Mr. Giuliani, Oprah or Robin Williams.

MORE READING BETWEEN THE LINES

The United States remains committed to diplomacy.
[Just look at what remains from my commitment in Iraq.]

We're on the move. We're taking action. We're helping this young democracy succeed. [In increasing its death count.]

It's in our interests that Iraq succeed.

[Our interests are, of course, oil and hegemony in the greater Middle East.]

The stakes are high. As a matter of fact, they couldn't be higher
.
[And the stakes are getting longer, and the vampires are getting bigger. The steaks are getting more expensive, too.]

Steve, we're constantly changing tactics to achieve a strategic goal.
[And we’re constantly changing rhetoric to achieve a strategic goal.]

Our policy is to help this country succeed, because I understand the stakes. I'm going to repeat them one more time.
[I’m going to repeat the mistakes one more time. Iran, can you hear me now?]

My vow to the American people is I understand the stakes, and I understand what it would mean for us to leave before the job is done.

[Honey, are those steaks done yet?]

I like to tell people we're in an ideological struggle.

[I like to tell myself that I’m an idiot in a struggle.]

But the United States' message to North Korea and Iran and the people in both countries is that we have -- we want to solve issues peacefully.
[As we did in Iraq…Afghanistan…Vietnam…]

If North Korea decides that they don't like what's being said, they're not just stiffing the United States -- I don't know if that's a diplomatic word, or not –
[No, it isn’t a diplomatic word. Stiff means corpse or to cheat.]

If I might say, that is a beautiful suit.
[And what’s under it suits me.]

No, I don't consider it a credible report.
I do know that a lot of innocent people have died, and that troubles me and it grieves me.

[But that’s the price of Victory and staying the course. More stakes through the hearts of Iraqis pains me, but I will stay the course.]

I stand by the figure of 30,000. A lot of innocent people have lost their life -- 600,000, or whatever they guessed at, is just -- it's not credible.

[But neither am I.]

I believe that the situation in Iraq is, no question, tough on the American psyche, like I said I think at this very spot last time I faced the press corps. And it's serious business.
[…for Halliburton…Bechtel…Corporate cronies.]

One has a stronger hand when there's more people playing your same cards.
[Boy, everyone must know by now that I don’t know what the hell I’m talking about.]

I'll ask myself a follow-up.
[This might be the first time that a president has ever asked himself a follow-up question at his own press conference. Is this schizophrenic megalomania or what?]

VOYAGES AND FIN DE SIECLE

These not so happy poems were written decades ago. And, alas, the world is still in its handbasket going to blazes.

VOYAGES

The cries of power!

The steeds and golden saddles of nuclear horsemen!
Chariots racing closer and closer to the shore of Englightenment!
"Start again," said the bionic man.
"Bone and blood are irradiated."
"Go on smiling," said the beggar man.
The Stone Age, the Metal Age, the Dark Ages,
The Renaissance, the Industrial Revolution...
Voyages in oceans and galaxies!
The Gold Rush, the Golden Lust, the Garden of Eden...
Voyages in oceans and galaxies!
Where are you Adam and Eve?
Where in the devil is God?
Men kissed Prometheus again
When Atom walked
Onto the stage
Of raging flame.

Fin de Siecle

Time and radiation will not erase
My name from thee
Our love came before this cancer called the
Atomic Age.
Man's radiation will not diminish us nor his
Geiger counter trace us
We are the great bright stones silent and
Alive
We shine in the stars
So look at us
Wish upon us
We will answer
Resplendent gods from the original nova fire!
Time and radiation will not erase
My name from thee
Our love will grow and grow
Before and after atomic war.

NUCLEAR MADNESS

Pop! Went the weasel!
North Korea let the atomic genie out of its own Pandora's Box Monday.
The U.S. has about 10,000 nuclear bombs.
North Korea may have twelve.
The Torturer-in-Chief will make hay out of North Korea's nuclear explosion.
The hay will be fed to voters.
Scare 'em some more...Scare 'em some more...
Scare 'em with war.
If the Bush administration would spend more time negotiating and less time obviating, then the evil axes might be less likely to develop their nuclear ambitions.
Instead, Iran and North Korea now defy and ignore everyone, and go fool-heartedly ahead with their own nuclear madness.
What is good for the goose is good for the gander.
Nuclear Bombs must be important since the U.S. has so many.
Nuclear swords are powerful deterrents.
If the U.S. wants no nukes in the world, then it should start working harder to implement the idea.

Rummy's North Korea Connection What did Donald Rumsfeld know about ABB's deal to build nuclear reactors there? And why won't he talk about it?

By Richard Behar Research Associate Brenda Cherry
May 12, 2003
(FORTUNE Magazine) – Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld rarely keeps his opinions to himself. He tends not to compromise with his enemies. And he clearly disdains the communist regime in North Korea. So it's surprising that there is no clear public record of his views on the controversial 1994 deal in which the U.S. agreed to provide North Korea with two light-water nuclear reactors in exchange for Pyongyang ending its nuclear weapons program. What's even more surprising about Rumsfeld's silence is that he sat on the board of the company that won a $200 million contract to provide the design and key components for the reactors.

SMOKE-FILLED ROOMS

The world started to go to hell when smoking was banned in bars.
I don't have empirical proof. I just know that this is true.
When smokers could drink and smoke inside bars, the general population was in less danger.
The smokers now have to leave their bar stools and stand outside to smoke.
This is quite irritating.
In fact, this is as irritating as the smoke fumes inside the bars.
More smoke means less violence in the world.
Smokers are more high-strung and edgy now.
Crime is up.
Prisons are overcrowded (A little or a lot of smoke doesn't bother dudes on death-row.)
There are more terrorists.
At least give smokers a place of their own in bars to drink and puff away in.
Then the world will be a safer place.

THE UNITED CHURCH OF MIGRAINES

"In recent years, a church-run fitness center with a tanning bed and video arcade in Minnesota, a biblical theme park in Florida, a ministry’s 1,800-acre training retreat and conference center in Michigan, religious broadcasters’ transmission towers in Washington State, and housing for teachers at church-run schools in Alaska have all been granted tax breaks by local officials — or, when they balked, by the courts or state legislators."

As Exemptions Grow, Religion Outweighs Regulation
By DIANA B. HENRIQUES
New York Times
October 8, 2006

*

I am going to start a church.
I am leary of Islam and Christianity.
I am also leary of any church that is based on drugs such as peyote, mescaline, marijuana, LSD etc.
I will start a church called The United Church of Migraines since so many people are afflicted with these painful headaches.
My church would still be beholden to God.
Oh Mighty Supreme Being, Creator of the Universe, we pray to you to relieve our Migraines.
The building for my church will be shaped like a brain.
This big brain will be the symbol of The United Church of Migraines.
I will put a pulsating red light in the center.
Migraine-suffering brothers and sisters will find salvation and relief inside The United Church of Migraines.
With its tax-free revenue, my church will build a recreation center equipped with a fitness center, a bowling alley, video arcade and massage-pizza parlor.
Donations are welcome...big and small.

WALLOWING AND SQUEALING

The deceptive administration of the Torturer-in-Chief CAME, SAW…and almost CONQUERED...but then it COPPED-OUT.
This copping out took the form of inadequately protecting soldiers.
The pre-emptive, immoral and illegal war was fought on the cheap…and still is.
It isn’t enough that the Pentagon has lost (stolen) trillions of dollars [Rumsfeld Sept 10, 2001:
The Pentagon cannot account for $2.3 TRILLION].
It isn’t enough that billions and billions of dollars are missing in Iraq:

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Nearly $9 billion of money spent on Iraqi reconstruction is unaccounted for because of inefficiencies and bad management according to a watchdog report published Sunday.

But Dick’s friends did just fine (those who didn’t lose their lives) in Iraq.
The Neo Cons conned the United States and the World into their Iraq War.
THEIR CON IS UP!
There is really not much left for the Neo Cons to do except to leave Iraq…or continue to fight and fight and die.
Kick-up the radioactive dust that has been produced by deadly Depleted Uranium-tipped Weapons that have already contaminated the babies, the adults, U.S. soldiers, the water, the sky and the soil of Iraq.
Deformities!
You know how it goes.
How it has always gone.
Destroy the village (in this case a country) in order to save it!
Kissinger’s advice to the Long War President is:
Kill
Kill
Kill
Until there is ViCtOrY.
Meanwhile, the mercury in the GOP barometer is going
Down
Down
Down.
Rove is running around in circles and squealing.
His porcine brain is wallowing in a muddy and malignant morass.
Now, maybe, Americans can rescue their country from these Cons that want to continue their dictatorial and destructive administration.

BAD NEWS NO GOOD NEWS

Global warming is going to turn the planet into a Watery Hell.
Watery because the ocean levels will rise.
Hell because the temperatures will turn most places into deserts.
Marine life is going to die from our sewage.
The Moon and Mars are beginning to look good.
You and I won't be here.
Keep driving those V-8's, those CO2-spewing vehicles, those Military and Jumbo jets, those Space Shuttles!
Live like there is no tomorrow.
But don't hold your breath believing that extraterrestrials will save our collective bellicose butts.
The ETs are just waiting until they can enter the scene when all of us fighting insects (to them) have become extinct, or nearly so.
Then they can begin to create a new paradise to replace the one that we destroyed.

FOLEY'S FOLLIES

“I was molested by the clergy when I was young.
I am now a drunk.
I am also gay.
Don’t blame me.
It’s the fault of my surroundings.
But I am not blaming anyone.
I like little boys.
I know this is not appropriate.
But I didn’t have sexual relations with any minors.
I apologize for potentially causing the GOP to lose the November election.
I am now going to Rehab.

Thank you.”

STATE OF DENIAL BEFORE AND AFTER 9-11

Note: They, these and their refer to: George W. Bush, Condoleeza Rice, Dick Cheney, Donald Rumsfeld, Paul Wolfowitz...and all others who knew the Truth when they concealed and covered up the Truth.

They lied before and they lied after.
They are lying now.
They are liars.
Liars are traitors if they lie to their country and citizens.
They promised under oath to defend the United States of America.
They DID NOT.
They promised under oath to defend the Constitution of the United States.
They HAVE NOT.
These liars should be charged with treason.
If not now, then after they leave public office.
The sooner and the better for the restoration of our nation's reputation, for the salvation of our soldiers, and for putting an end to the theft of our national treasury.
The monstrous painting was a mere cartoon until now.
Before 9-11 they knew about the threats and impending plans of Al-Qaeda.
They sat on their hands.
They went on vacation.
They ignored the threats.
Now they blame others.
After 9-11 they lied.
They lied when they told the world that Iraq was a threat.
They lied. They lied. They lied.
And now their lies are being uncovered from a dark, dirty and treasonous tomb.
It is time for voting these liars out of office!
The ship of state is (and was) in peril because of these liars.

THE BUTCHER OF CAMBODIA AND GEORGE W. BUSH

"Victory over the insurgency is the only meaningful exit strategy."
Henry Kissinger on Iraq

Henry Kissinger has always been in the shadows.
Now we know that the Long War President has been receiving advice from Kissinger.
I've always associated Henry Kissinger with the Vietnam War, Chile (not the soup) and his (prolific) shuttle diplomacy to the Middle East.
All three associations had negative results.
I have often tried to imitate the deep, gravelly and mesmerizing voice of Dr. Kissinger.
I’ve never been very successful.
The voice is as unique as it is scary.
Imagine Condoleeza Rice with the voice of Henry Kissinger!
Now that’s a match made in Heaven (or Hell).
Christopher Hitchins matched the following with Dr. Henry Kissinger:
1. The deliberate mass killing of civilian populations in Indochina.
2. Deliberate collusion in mass murder, and later in assassination, in Bangladesh.
3. The personal suborning and planning of murder, of a senior constitutional officer in a democratic nation - Chile - with which the United States was not at war.
4. Personal involvement in a plan to murder the head of state in the democratic nation of Cyprus.
5. The incitement and enabling of genocide in East Timor
6. Personal involvement in a plan to kidnap and murder a journalist living in Washington, DC.

From the Preface of
The Trial of Henry Kissinger
by Christopher Hitchins
Verso Press, 2001

It is no surprise that the Long War President is getting some advice from Henry Kissinger.

STAY THE CURSE: THE SKY IS FALLING ON THE EMPEROR WITHOUT CLOTHES IN HIS STATE OF DENIAL

"All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing."

Edmund Burke

1. IT WAS A MISTAKE TO BOMB IRAQ.
2. THE BUSH ADMINISTRATION LIED TO BOMB IRAQ.
3. THERE ARE MORE TERRORISTS IN IRAQ AND THE WORLD THAN BEFORE IRAQ WAS BOMBED AND OCCUPIED.
4. AFGHANISTAN IS NOW A LAND OF POPPIES AND TERRORISTS AGAIN.
5. THE WAR MACHINE NOW HAS A PERPETUAL CASH COW:
TERRORISTS
TERRORISTS
TERRORISTS.

MY COUNTRY RIGHT OR WRONG?

“The power of the executive to cast a man into prison without formulating any charge known to the law, and particularly to deny him the judgment of his peers, is in the highest degree odious, and the foundation of all totalitarian government whether Nazi or Communist.”

Winston Churchill

I am wearing
black today.
I am mourning what has become of my country.
Especially after yesterday when the U.S. Senate unheroically, blindly and repugnantly voted yes for the Detainee Bill.
I am working at a school and today is
spirit day.
We are supposed to wear our school colors red, white and blue.
O.K.
I am
blue today.
I am a
white person.
And my country has become a vessel and producer of
red blood and tears.
No thanks to my senators, representatives, and "leaders".

CUT AND RUN! FASCISM IS HERE!

The irony of it all is that despite the smear talk of Hitlers in the Middle East, the leader whose thinking process most resembles Hitler's is our own president. Like Hitler, Bush's ideological beliefs have blinded him to reality, and like Hitler, he seems impervious to advice that conflicts with his beliefs. There the resemblance ends, of course, but it is bad enough. Hitler learned that he couldn't win a two-front war, and Bush will learn that he can't democratize the Middle East with bombs and bullets.

As Crazy As It Sounds,
Bush May Bomb Iran For Israel

By Charlie Reese/9-27-6/rense.com

George W. Bush BELIEVES THAT BAD IS GOOD.
The N.I.E. report just informed us that the IRAQ WAR IS BAD.
George W. Bush and his propagandistic marionettes are spinning the N.I.E. report so that it fits his and their deceitful and delusional agenda.
In the Twilight Zone and Land of Oz administration of George W. Bush
WAR is BAD and BAD is GOOD.
(Where are you tonight George Orwell?)
Before they escape and scurry off into the sunset to plan for their November election, the U.S. Senate passed a new and improved anti-torture and detainee law.
This law will permit the Decider, if he chooses, to put American citizens into prison when he decides that they (you and I!) are illegal enemy combatants:
“A dangerously broad definition of “illegal enemy combatant” in the bill could subject legal residents of the United States, as well as foreign citizens living in their own countries, to summary arrest and indefinite detention with no hope of appeal. The president could give the power to apply this label to anyone he wanted.”
EDITORIAL/NEW YORK TIMES/Rushing Off a Cliff/ Published: September 28, 2006

“Until Congress passes this legislation, terrorists ... cannot be tried for war crimes in the United States and the United States risks fighting a blind war without adequate intelligence,"
Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist, R-Tenn.

But five years have passed!
Why haven’t these terrorists already been tried? (They certainly have hung and dried for some time.)
The new law will exonerate the Decider and his cabal from any future unpleasant criminal charges.
It’s a Cover-Their-Ass-Stay-Out-Of-Jail-Pass-Law.
IT IS EASIER AND EASIER for the Long War President TO BE A DICTATOR.
Thank you very much U.S. House and Senate
Scoundrels!

POSTCRIPT:
In a January 2002 memorandum to George W. Bush, Attorney General of the United States Alberto Gonzales emphasized that this new war on terror "renders obsolete Geneva's strict limitations on questioning of enemy prisoners and renders quaint some of its provisions."

The military has lived with the Geneva Conventions provisions for 50 years and applied them to every conflict, even against irregular forces. Why are we suddenly afraid now about the vagueness of its terms?
Tom Malinowski/Director of the Washington office of Human Rights Watch.

GOOGLING

I did some googling yesterday.
I wanted to compare how many web sites there were for the words God, Satan, Good, Evil, Love, Hate and Sex.
Here’s what I found:
God had 566,000,000.
Satan had 34,400,000.
Good had 2,340,000,000.
Evil had 266,000,000.
Love had 1,460,000,000.
Hate had 211,000,000.
Sex had 665,000,000.
I will leave it up to psychologists and sociologists to decide what these numbers mean.
Good, Love and Sex had the highest number.
Poor Satan is a loser with only 34 million.

COME WHERE THE ACTION IS: COME TO IRAQ!

"I'm the commander you see, I don't need to explain. I do not need to explain why I say things. That's the interesting thing about being president."
George W. Bush

"Some people have, you know, guessed what's in the report and have concluded that going into Iraq was a mistake. I strongly disagree. I think it's naive.”
[George W. Bush
Press Conference with Afghan President Hamid Karzai
September 26, 2006]

You are absolutely right, Mr. Long War President.
IT WAS NAIVE TO GO INTO IRAQ!
Jerking and smirking at his press conference, the Decider was on the defensive.
The Long War President wants to keep soldiers dying in his Iraq War until Doomsday.
The Long War President is in denial (once again) about truths reported in the N.I.E or the National Intelligence Estimate on terrorism.
The NIE is a formal document that represents the consensus opinion of all 16 U.S. intelligence agencies.
Bush is beating the same hollow drum with the same broken drumsticks.
It brought to my mind the attack by the living dead in the movie of the same name (except for the missing words night and of) who are trying to get into a house to eat the remaining few who are still alive.
The Decider is possessed with relentless and voracious self-delusion.
And so are Dick Cheney, Donald Rumsfeld and Condoleeza Rice.
What will it take for these lying idiots to accept the facts of not only the N.I.E., but the opinions from former generals…and, now…a majority of the
American people!

THE PUNCTUATOR

Honey, you need to study your grammar book before you use any more punctuation marks to express your political ideas.
Yeah, I know.
I meant to say that a semi-colon, not a comma, is what Iraq will mean when its history is written.
Or just a period.
So my comma was half-right.
I was only missing a period.
I’m sure History will understand me.
It already understands how inept I am at using words.
O.K.
Now teach me about these intestinal colons and runny sentences.

NO MORE BEATING AROUND THE BUSH

When the Long War President has attached his name to signing statements which are on nearly every new U.S. law, is it any longer inaccurate or unfair to attach the word dictatorial to his name?
As of 2006, George W. Bush has issued over 130 signing statements containing more than 750 constitutional challenges.
[en.Wikipedia.com]
We citizens still have Freedom of Speech.
Americans can call their president a liar, a crook, a dictator or a devil without being arrested.
The United States of America is not a dictatorship yet.
But anyone who gets too close to the nucleus of government secrets and government conspiracy may experience an untimely demise or at least receive menacing threats.
The Decider (perhaps he really does mean Dictator) might get his compromise on torture this week.
So much for international laws and the Geneva Convention that are too vague for the Long War President.
But there should be NO compromise of any kind on torture.
Alright…if there was an individual or group who knew that a nuclear or chemical bomb was in the U.S., then do everything under the sun except decapitation to extract information.
The Decider, however, doesn’t want to face any possibility in the future in which he or his administration could be prosecuted with crimes of torture.
George W. Bush isn’t the Devil, but he has leased portions of his soul to
El Diablo.
NO MORE BEATING AROUND THE BUSH.

"Creating immunity retroactively for violating the law sets a terrible precedent. The president takes an oath of office to uphold the Constitution; that document requires him to obey the laws, not violate them. A president who knowingly and deliberately violates U.S. criminal laws should not be able to use stealth tactics to immunize himself from liability, and Congress should not go along."

DEVILS

“The day Dick Cheney is going to run for president, I’ll kill myself. All we need is one more liar.”
Helen Thomas

Gas prices are dipping;
Fear-mongering is not.
Elections are coming; so are
Terrorists.
Presidential diablos Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and Hugo Chavez
Spewed inflammatory scripture to inflate their own egos and denounce the ego of another devil.
PRISON PLANET.COM cites its own scripture:
Is Rove's October surprise the political assassination, dirty bomb, biological release or terror attack forecast in a 2005 Republican memo, touted to "reverse the sagging fortunes of President George W. Bush," and "restore his image as a leader of the American people."
Will the Neo-Fascists again overplay their hand in a desperate lunge to rescue their power monopoly or is Rove's plan infinitely more sophisticated?

[PRISON PLANET.COM/September 21, 2006]
This is wild, whimsical and wishful self-fulfillment.
The actual reason that Republicans might maintain a majority in Congress is because voters are fickle and fatuous.
Voters pay as much attention to good political advertisements and clever sound bites as they do to facts.
Dramatic displays of artful and astute propaganda can persuade as well as any offers of common sense and logic.
Dodging the issues is also a good ploy.
Put the voters’ attention on an asteroid approaching earth--- or on a belligerent leader who wants to get his own way come hell or high water.
Calling the Long War President the devil or a fascist helps the president and his constituents. This kind of support is unexpected and welcome.
Denunciations become sympathy magnets.
The enemy is them not us.
The enemy is them, not NeoCon Republicans or their Long War President.
Lastly, there are always those electronic voting machines.
They might be the most favorable factor of all in the November elections.
Maybe this is a dictatorship.
It’s time to win the lottery.

MORE DICK AND BUSH TORTURE

"Our country is at war and our government has the obligation to protect the American people. Anything we do to that end, in that effort, any activity we conduct, is within the law."
George W. Bush

"Yep, we gotta do whatever it takes to protect the people, my people, the American people.
Dick is big on this torture thing.
This is a different war.
That Geneva Convention is for them old wars.
Now we have murderers and terrorists who want to see Americans die.
Torture is in the eye of the beholder, and I behold evildoers who want to stop peace and democracy from developing in Iraq.
We will stop the insurgents, and we will not torture ourselves on this matter about torture.
If it takes torture to defeat the terrorists and insurgents, then torture it will be.
Dick, you can take your foot out of my mouth now."

A NEVER-ENDING ELLIPSIS AND THE URINARY EXECUTIVE

"The safety of America depends on the outcome of the battle in the streets of Baghdad."
George W. Bush-September 11, 2006

"When the final history of Iraq is written it will look like a comma."
George W. Bush-Interview with Wolf Blitzer-September 20, 2006

CORRECTION:

WHEN THE FINAL HISTORY OF IRAQ IS WRITTEN IT WILL LOOK LIKE A NEVER-ENDING ELLIPSIS!

“I have come to believe that our presence is part of the problem and that we should begin to seriously devise an exit strategy. There's a civil war in Iraq and our presence is contributing to the violence. We've become a lightning rod—we're not restricting the violence, we're contributing to it. Iraq has galvanized jihadists; our presence is what is attracting them.”

SECTS AND VIOLENCE

Some nuts on the Internet are saying that the Pope is working for the Illuminati (whoever this might be).
That's why he made his comments about Muhammad, so say the nuts.
Personally, I don't like Muhammad that much. [Muhammad's name appeared in Haggai 2:7 under the hebrew word mahmad which means praised one. Muhammad is Arabic for praised one].
I haven't read the Koran, but I read somewhere that Muhammad did lead an army somewhere in some battle.
I thought to myself (many years before September 11, 2001), "This is a bad dude."
Of course, I wouldn't use the word dude today.
But he is still not one of my favorite people.
Christ was a good guy.
It's the people who fight wars in his name that are the bad guys.
Or people who say that the Son's Father told them to do this or that.
Know anyone who does (or did) this?
There is enough violence and sects in the world.
The Pope should be more careful about what he says.
Illuminate don't instigate.

NO MORE WARS

"Freedom, by its nature, cannot be imposed.
It must be chosen."
George W. Bush
9/19/2006
Address to the United Nations

George W. Bush once again sounded very good.
His speech writer is very good.
But the above lines, which came at the end of his address to the United Nations, stick out like sore thumbs.
Did America impose its freedom on the Iraqi people when cruise missiles were launched by George W. Bush in his unprovoked pre-emptive attack on the nation of Iraq?
Did the Iraqi people choose freedom on that infamous first day of this long and horrendous war?
THE ANSWER TO THE FORMER IS YES!
THE ANSWER TO THE LATTER IS NO!
Mr. President, the world has seen what you have done.
The world listens to your words, but it doesn't believe a liar.
All of your words sounded wonderful.
It's too bad reality doesn't match your rhetoric.
The world now fears that you will bomb Iran.
The world does not need any more fear or fear of bombs.
The world needs a reprieve from war.
NO MORE WAR.

Neocons seek maximum chaos and instability in the Middle East in order to justify long-term US occupation of the region. Following this line of thought, neocons would regard the loss of a US aircraft carrier in the Persian Gulf as a way to solidify public support for the war. US public anger at the Iranians could even result in US public support for a military draft in order to win "the war on terror."

Neocons claim that tactical nuclear weapons are necessary to destroy Iran's underground facilities. However, the real reason for using nukes against Iran is to intimidate Iran from retaliating and to threaten the entire Muslim world with genocide unless Muslims bend to the neocons' will and accept US hegemony over their part of the world.
In his speech to the United Nations, Hugo Chavez might not have been too deep into hyperbole when he described Bush as an example of demonic evil.

FRIENDS AND FOES

The government of the United States handpicks its friends and enemies.
The American taxpayers foot the bill.
Both political parties are guilty.
President Reagan secretly aided Iran by selling weapons to that country in order to fund the Contras.
The C.I.A. handpicked Saddam Hussein:

While many have thought that Saddam first became involved with U.S. intelligence agencies at the start of the September 1980 Iran-Iraq war, his first contacts with U.S. officials date back to 1959, when he was part of a CIA-authorized six-man squad tasked with assassinating then Iraqi Prime Minister Gen. Abd al-Karim Qasim.

The U.S. shut a blind eye when Hussein used chemical weapons (made from some materials that came from the United States):

How did Iraq get its weapons? We sold them

The Sunday Herald

By Neil Mackay and Felicity Arbuthnot

THE US and Britain sold Saddam Hussein the technology and materials Iraq needed to develop nuclear, chemical and biological weapons of mass destruction.
Reports by the US Senate's committee on banking, housing and urban affairs which oversees American exports policy reveal that the US, under the successive administrations of Ronald Reagan and George Bush Senior sold materials including anthrax, VX nerve gas, West Nile fever germs and botulism to Iraq right up until March 1992, as well as germs similar to tuberculosis and pneumonia. Other bacteria sold included brucella melitensis, which damages major organs, and clostridium perfringens, which causes gas gangrene.
The shipments to Iraq went on even after Saddam Hussein ordered the gassing of the Kurdish town of Halabja, in which at least 5000 men, women and children died. The atrocity, which shocked the world, took place in March 1988, but a month later the components and materials of weapons of mass destruction were continuing to arrive in Baghdad from the US.

The chessmen are moved when the U.S. government needs to keep a friend or destroy an enemy.
The Taliban were ignored until they backed off from supporting the construction of an oil pipeline through Afghanistan.
The poppies didn't bloom so abundantly in Afghanistan as they do now.
The Taliban wouldn’t allow them to bloom.
But now the Taliban gets money from those same poppies.
Drug dealer Noriega was a friend until Bush Senior sent him packing.
Then there was Somoza.
Then there was Pinochet.
Then there was Marcos.
There was George W. Bush.

TERRORISTS AND KILLER VEGETABLES

Terrorists.
Cigarettes.
AIDS.
Cholesterol.
Speed...
On the highway and in your body.
AND THEN THERE IS SPINACH!
Popeye just got a black eye.
But wait, he didn't eat fresh spinach.
Whew! Thank goodness!
The little bugger that has recently contaminated the leafy green is the bacterium called E.coli.
I hated the taste of spinach until I lived in Afghanistan.
A part of my very first meal in Kabul was spinach with lots of the buttery-tasting oil from a lamb's tail.
I ate it.
I liked it!
What I didn't like was the little pebble that I crunched on.
This was one word in Farsi I never forgot:
sang.
Now I eat a can of spinach every week.
POPEYE THE SAILOR MAN...

THE WAR ON TERROR IS MY PRIDE AND JOY OBEY ME

"I think the very kindest thing that we can say about George W. Bush and all the people in the U.S. Government that have been involved in this massive cover-up, the very kindest thing we can say is that they were aware of impending attacks and let them happen. Now some people will say that’s much too kind, however even that is high treason and conspiracy to commit murder."
Col. Robert Bowman, PhD, U.S. Air Force (ret)

(Director of Advanced Space Programs Development "Star Wars Program" under Presidents Ford and Carter. U.S. Air Force fighter pilot with over 100 combat missions. PhD in Aeronautics and Nuclear Engineering, Cal Tech).

You see, you Press fellows and the Supreme Court can be my buddies as long as you obey me.
I am your Decider.
I am your Long War President.
I won't allow any former Secretary of State stop me from bringing the evil terrorists to justice, or deter me from my goal of avoiding impeachment for illegal Torture and illegal Surveillance.
The Decider likes the Supreme Court when it elects him.
The Decider doesn’t like the Supreme Court when it challenges his hubris and illegal ways.
The Long War President must have everything his way or it’s the highway...and
Guantanomo Bay!
I will say and do anything to stop these appeasing-the-enemy Democrats.
Shotgun Dick is cocked and loaded.
I've got to stay on my horse.
I have got to stay on course.
I am on my way to Victory in Iraq.
The Terrorists are coming!
The Terrorists are coming!
We have to fight the terrorists there and not Here!
I am a wind-up toy!
Feed me some pretzels!
Global War is my pride and joy!

MORE READING BETWEEN THE LINES

It's always a pleasure to be introduced into the Rose Garden.
(It’s those nasty thorns that I hate.)

I was so honored to meet with… first responders…all who still had heaviness in their heart.
(And asbestos in their lung.)

Right here in the Oval Office, I get briefed nearly every morning about the nature of this world…

(And I learn how messed up nature has become.)

Time is running out.
(And so am I in 2008.)

We didn't ask for this war.

(But I decided to give it to you anyway.)

This debate is occurring because of the Supreme Court's ruling that said that we must conduct ourselves under the Common Article III of the Geneva Convention. And that Common Article III says that there will be no outrages upon human dignity. It's very vague. What does that mean, "outrages upon human dignity"?

(Does that mean that we can’t almost drown our enemies? Or zap their gonads with electricity? To avoid prosecution of any war crimes, we have to be specific about what our interrogators can and cannot do.)

I must say, having gone through those gyrations, you're looking beautiful today, Dave
(Maybe we can touch base at dinner later.)

There's no doubt in my mind we needed to make sure the Patriot Act was renewed to tear down walls that exist so that intelligence people could serve -- could share information with criminal people.

(So that intelligence people could share information with criminal people? Did I just hear myself say that?)

"The world is beginning to doubt the moral basis of our fight against terrorism. To redefine Common Article 3 would add to those doubts. Furthermore, it would put our own troops at risk."

MORE VOMIT AND FLAWED LOGIC FROM BUSH

"IT'S UNACCEPTABLE TO THINK..."
George W. Bush
The Rose Garden
September 15, 2006

If a majority in the House of Representatives or the Senate is not achieved by the Democrats in November, then the American people will continue to choke on the rhetorical and dictatorial vomit of Bush.
Not a pleasant image or description, I know, but the truth is quite often puky and offensive.
The Long War President, Dick Cheney, Donald Rumsfeld (and others) deserted the Global War on Terror when they removed the attack on Al-Qaeda in Afghanistan and substituted their pre-emptive Shock and Awe bombing of Iraq.
Now, both Afghanistan and Iraq are DISASTERS.
The Long War President is as dumb about the real situation in Iraq as he is about Global Warming.
And Dick Cheney is wrong once again:
IRAQ AND SADDAM HUSSEIN DID NOT THREATEN AMERICA.
Again, lying Dick, you are dead wrong:
IRAQ DID NOT THREATEN AMERICA.
Saddam Hussein was in a box (and later in a hole). He may have had nefarious ambitions, but his military had already been eviscerated by Daddy Bush.
Self-delusional megalomaniacs have taken over our country.
They point their pontifical and hypocritical fingers at their critics.
But if these powerful, insatiable and lying psychopaths are not censored and investigated (and yes, IMPEACHED) for their misconceived and deceptive stratagems, then the United States of America will have reached a moribund stage of its brief life.
If the grip of the GOP and George W. Bush’s cabal is not ejected, then it will continue to project its foul vomit upon the American people and the Constitution of the United States…oh…and
THE WORLD!

"For more than 200 years our nation has adhered to the fundamental principle that our government is one of laws, not men. The Administration and Warner bills threaten that tradition by stripping the federal courts of jurisdiction to hear pending habeas cases brought by Guantánamo detainees. If enacted, these bills would authorize the life-long detention of more than 450 men who have been imprisoned in Guantánamo for nearly five years without ever having been charged with an offense or receiving a fair hearing. This is unconscionable. Every person detained by our nation must receive a fair hearing--one that does not rely on secret evidence or evidence obtained by torture or coercion--because fairness and due process are what America stands for. We would demand nothing less for members of our military if they were captured abroad by our enemies. Congress should reject any provision that abandons habeas corpus."

ONE STORMY NIGHT AND GOODBYE FROGS

I remember the night when I was in line at Wal-Mart buying some batteries.
A beautiful thunderstorm had been brewing just before I entered the store.
Then there was a thunderbolt.
It shook the building.
The power went out.
It was my turn to pay the cashier for my batteries when the cash register conked out.
I don't know why (the mind works in strange ways), but I picked this moment to say to the cashier, "You know, frogs can tell you a lot about the health of the earth. When they're dying you know there's something wrong in the environment."
Behind me a voice piped up "You better stop talking, or I'll have someone who’ll stop you."
I turned around and saw the woman, and figured that it was her husband that she was referring to who would stop me from saying any more about frogs.
I didn't see her better half yet, but I took her at her word, and I let the subject of frogs jump out the window (if there had been any).
I paid for my batteries and leapfrogged out of the store.
I still don't know why frogs and what I had said about them agitated this woman so much.
Maybe she raised frogs and I was stepping on some webbed toes.
But frogs have come home (not to roost).
Amphibians are in the news again.
My comment that stormy night was accurate and ominous.

“For the first time in modern history, because of the way that humans are impacting our natural world, we're facing the extinction of an entire class of organisms. This is not the extinction of just a panda or a rhino; it's a whole class of organisms. Certainly if it were impacting mammals, we would be taking this a lot more seriously.”

(Claude Gascon, a herpetologist with Conservation International)
