PHARMACEUTICAL COMPANIES WILL GET SPECIAL PROTECTION

Americans deserve Protection from a Pandemic Flu Outbreak

"Congress needs to act to protect Americans from the dangers of a pandemic flu outbreak – and the best way to protect Americans from the flu is to produce safe vaccines."

"But the Bush Administration and Members of Congress are using fear of a flu outbreak as an excuse to slip in huge giveaways to the pharmaceutical industry. Proposals being considered would limit the ability of individuals to hold drug companies accountable if they give people unhealthy or deadly vaccines or drugs, even if they commit gross negligence."

"The bill doesn’t just give immunity to a flu vaccine. The legislation would allow the government to add drugs made by their favorite corporations to a list of those that would be protected. You name it, they could add it to the list."

"Even if it’s not related at all, the drugmaker could receive immunity anyway, if the Secretary of Health and Human Services says so. One person would be given the power to give immunity from all liability to any drug company for any drug!"

"What does that mean for ordinary Americans? It means no remedy if you or your loved ones are injured or killed by a bad dose of vaccine -- or by any dangerous drug that’s on the immunity list!"

"For instance, if a drug maker marketed a drug or vaccine that was approved for adults, but caused serious medical problems and even death when used by children, as was the case with heartburn medicine Propulsid, the parents of an injured child would have no way to hold the drug maker accountable.
And if a contaminated batch of an anti-viral treatment caused massive illness and even death, families would be unable to get any remedy."

"Unfortunately, there have been a number of cases where drug companies placed dangerous drugs on the market, putting their bottom line before the health and safety of the public."

"In the most recent example, the vaccine manufacturer Merck continued to market its pain relief drug Vioxx, even as internal company documents showed that corporate officials were aware of the serious problems with the drug. Before Merck pulled Vioxx from the market, as many as 55,000 Americans were killed by heart attacks and strokes caused by the drug, according to congressional testimony by David Graham a scientist with the Food and Drug Administration."

"Tell Congress to put our families' health and safety before pharmaceutical company profits. If they are really interested in protecting the public's safety, they will stand up for safe vaccines, not special protections for the pharmaceutical industry. Tell Congress, no special protections for the pharmaceutical industry!" (From www.peopleoverprofits.org)

BUSH DICK AND TORTURE

"Our country is at war and our government has the obligation to protect the American people. Anything we do to that end, in that effort, any activity we conduct, is within the law." George W. Bush

"Yep, we gotta do whatever it takes to protect the people, my people, the American people.
Dick is big on this torture thing.
This is a different war.
That Geneva Convention is for them old wars.
Now we have murderers and terrorists who want to see Americans die.
Torture is in the eye of the beholder, and I behold evildoers who want to stop peace and democracy from developing in Iraq.
We will stop the insurgents, and we will not torture ourselves on this matter about torture.
If it takes torture to defeat the terrorists and insurgents, then torture it will be.
Dick, you can take your foot out of my mouth now."

NOTABLE QUOTES #4

"According to the Treasury Department, from 1776-2000, the first 224 years of U.S. history, 42 U.S. presidents borrowed a combined $1.01 trillion from foreign governments and financial institutions, but in the past four years alone, the Bush administration borrowed $1.05 trillion."

"The seriousness of this rapid and increasing financial vulnerability of our country can hardly be overstated," said Rep. John Tanner (D-Tenn.), a leader of the Blue Dog Coalition and member of the House Ways and Means Committee."

"No American political leadership has ever willfully and deliberately mortgaged our country to foreign interests in the manner we have witnessed over the past four years," said Tanner. "If this recklessness is not stopped, I truly believe our economic freedom as American citizens is in great jeopardy."

Melanie Hunter,
CNSNews.com, Senior Editor, November 4, 2005

"Seventy-two percent of the public believe oil companies gouged gas prices in the wake of Hurricane Katrina, according to an ABC News poll. Four out of five Americans support a tax on windfall profits to benefit alternative energy sources, the Civil Society Institute recently found. "The polling numbers are so bad for Washington Republicans that there are only two groups less popular than they are right now," the Cato Institute's Jerry Taylor recently told CNBC's Lawrence Kudlow, "Oil companies and mass murderers."

"Oil Tycoons Grilled on Windfall Profits", The Nation, November 9, 2005

"These days, Americans suspected of no wrongdoing can suddenly find themselves caught up in FBI surveillance operations."
"It's as easy as saying "national security letter."
"Using this little-noticed but potent tool, the FBI can demand, for example, that an Internet provider, bank or phone company turn over records of who you call and e-mail, which websites you visit, how much you spend, where you work, fly and vacation, and much more. No judge has to approve the demand, a common check required on more typical subpoenas.
You'd never learn about the secret intrusion, either. It's all classified."

NOTABLE QUOTES #3

"Topless women holding a protest may be ho-hum in San Francisco, but at the state Capitol, police say such a display could corrupt children, prompt drivers to veer off the road and cause sex offenders to run amok."

"The California Highway Patrol has warned members of an organization called Breasts Not Bombs that if they dare to take their shirts off during a protest scheduled at the Capitol on Monday, they will be arrested and possibly forced to register with the state as sex offenders."

"If Topless, They'll Be Busted", Evan Halper, Los Angeles Times, November 5, 2005

"I understand the preoccupation with polls," he said. "The way you build credibility with the American people is to set a clear agenda ... and get the job done. And the agenda I am working now is important to the American people." George W. Bush

"The Senate Intelligence Committee is fine-tuning the details of a bill that will allow the FBI to secretly procure any of your personal records without "probable cause" or a court order giving them "unchecked authority to pry into personal and business matters"? (
New York Times, "Republicans seek to widen FBI Powers, 10-19-05)

"On June 29, President Bush put "a broad swath of the FBI"
under his direct control by creating the National Security Service (aka; the "New SS")? This is the first time we've had a "secret police" in our 200 year history. It will be run exclusively by the president and beyond the range of congressional oversight."

"Within 2 years every American license and passport will be made according to federal uniform standards including microchips (with biometric information) that will allow the government to trace every movement of its citizens"

"The cloak of disinformation and diversion has successfully obscured the perils of our present course. Freedom is no longer guaranteed in Bush's America nor is liberty everyman's birthright. The rickety scaffolding that supports the rule of law has been replaced by the unbridled authority of the supreme presidency. The country is slipping inexorably towards the Orwellian nightmare; the National Security State."

MORE NOTABLE QUOTATIONS

"This administration seeks for Congress to grant it the power to use America's military to enforce domestic order and impose martial law. President Bush stated, "I think the president ought to have all options on the table, all assets on the table to be able to deal with something this significant." That ought to bother us deeply; so deeply that we take decisive action and let our elected officials know that this proposed action is a step too far."

"When a GOP strategist suggested last weekend that the President fire Rove, Bush exploded."

"'You go to hell,' he screamed at the strategist. 'You can leave and you can take the rest of these lily-livered motherfuckers with you!' The President then stormed out of the room and refused to meet further with any other party leaders or strategists."

"Bush's escalating temper tantrums and his intransigence on political issues increase Republican worries about the long term effects on both his presidency and the party's prospects in upcoming elections."

"'Right now, George W. Bush is the Republican Party's chief liability,' says a GOP strategist who has advised Presidential campaigns for 30 years. 'The entire political future of the party and perhaps the nation now rests on the shoulders of a President that no one - Democrat or Republican - believes in or trusts.'"

"Cheney's office is the Pandora's Box of the Bush administration campaign to invade Iraq. Most of the planning as to both the waging and selling of the war occurred under his direction, along with that of Donald Rumsfeld and Paul Wolfowitz at the Pentagon. It was Cheney who played the point in beating up the CIA for its unhelpful analysis of the non-threat posed by Saddam, and Cheney along with his Defense Department pals who effectively circumvented the CIA by setting up the Office of Special Plans at the Pentagon to funnel the administration the kind of intelligence it wanted, largely courtesy of their longtime double-dealing stooge, Ahmed Chalabi."

"The CIA leak investigation: Bigger fish, deeper water", Steve Perry, The City Pages, 11-2-o5

"In President Bush's first term, some of the most important decisions about U.S. national security--including vital decisions about postwar Iraq--were made by a secretive, little-known cabal. It was made up of a very small group of people led by Vice President Dick Cheney and Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld.... I believe that the decisions of this cabal were sometimes made with the full and witting support of the president and sometimes with something less...."

"The administration's performance during its first four years would have been even worse without Powell's damage control. At least once a week, it seemed, Powell trooped over to the Oval Office and cleaned all the dog poop off the carpet...."

"Today, we have a president whose approval rating is 38 percent and a vice president who speaks only to Rush Limbaugh and assembled military forces. We have a secretary of Defense presiding over the death-by-a-thousand-cuts of our overstretched armed forces (no surprise to ignored dissenters such as former Army Chief of Staff Gen. Eric Shinseki or former Army Secretary Thomas White). It's a disaster. Given the choice, I'd choose a frustrating bureaucracy over an efficient cabal every time."

"The White House Cabal", Lawrence Wilkerson,
L.A. Times 10-25-05

"Leo Strauss (1899-1973) was a Jewish-German émigré from the Nazi regime who eventually landed at the University of Chicago where he developed a following that has achieved enormous prominence in American politics. Among his students were Paul Wolfowitz who has openly acknowledged that he is a follower of Straus as has the godfather of neconservatism, Irving Kristol. Irving Kristol begat William Kristol, the director of operation for the DC neocons, editor of the Weekly Standard and "chairman" of the Project for the New American Century, which laid out the plans for the Iraq War. (PNAC also opined in 2000 that a Pearl Harbor-like event would be necessary to take the country to war, and one year later, presto, we had the strange and still mysterious attack o September 11.) For his part Paul Wolfowitz begat Libby, in the intellectual sense, when he taught Libby at Yale. Others stars in the necon firmament are Richard Perle, Douglas Feith and lesser figures like Abram Shulsky, director of the Pentagon's Office of Special Plans, created by Donald Rumsfeld. Shulsky, also a student of Strauss, was responsible for fabricating the lies masquerading as intelligence that were designed to get the U.S. into the war on Iraq. While the neocons have a passion for the Likud party and Zionism, they also count among their number not a few pre-Vatican II Catholics and an assortment of cranks like Newt Gingrich and John Bolton and crypto fascists like Jeanne Kirkpatrick."

BUSH'S BILLIONS FOR BIRDS

“I'm Gonna attack this bird flu before it attacks us.
It's better to kill these flu birds in their backyards so that we are safe in ours.
Katrina and the Iraq insurgency were unexpected.
I will be ready for this foul flu epidemic.
We will have a virus patrol on watch. We will have this flu under our control.
I am asking for billions of dollars to create vaccines (that Rummy and my other Pharma friends will greatly profit from…huh, huh).
We can get the money from my new tax code changes.
(Don't worry, rich friends, I still care about your nest eggs!}
We will get this bird flu before it gets us.
Bring 'em (those birds) on!
Smoke 'em out of their caves...I mean their nests!
Time for some pretzels and refreshments!”

RULE 21

Frist called it a stunt.
It was not a stunt.
"The White House owes the American people an explanation", Senator Dianne Feinstein told Larry King last night.
You are right Ms. Feinstein.
We need an explanation.
Harry Reid did what he had to do, because the Republicans don't want to touch the hot iron of lies and deception which Bush and friends concocted to invade and occupy Iraq.
I do not want to wait for historians to unveil the lies.
I want an inquiry and investigation...
outside of the political arena of both Democrats and Republicans(I dream).
But let ‘em (the heads) roll!

NOTABLE QUOTES

"According to some estimates
we cannot track $2.3 trillion in transactions"
—Donald Rumsfeld, Secretary of Defense
CBS News, January 2002

"This one company that had access to the computers at the FAA and the Pentagon and the FBI and Secret Service on 9-11-2001 was on a terrorist watch list, because of the supposed links to terrorist organizations. Michael Chertoff, who is now the head of Homeland Security, was the head of the Department of Justice's Criminal Investigation Division on 9-11. He refused permission to any FBI agents to raid the offices of this company that had access to the computers which allowed the second and third planes to hit their targets. This despite the links to "Arab terrorists" by their board of directors."
Anonymous, 10-31-05

"The dream of the one-power world may have expired in intractable Iraq, but the dream of the one-party state at home is not yet dead. Bush's difficulty is that his chief opposition is not the weak-kneed Democrats, unable to mount effective opposition even to the Iraq War, but the neglected stuff of the real world. What is currently "voting" against Bush, you might say, is not so much the bloc of independents or security moms or any of the other slices of the demographic pie that public opinion pollsters examine but the molecules of carbon dioxide heating up the global air, the collapsed water purification system of Iraq, the dollars fleeing our Treasury, the wages emptying out of people's pockets." Jonathan Schell,
"Faith and Fraud", The Nation, 11-2-05

"The Fitzgerald indictment makes perfectly clear that the White House misled the public as to its involvement in sliming Wilson and talking about Plame."

"Bush needs to tell the public -- yes, the old phrase still applies -- what he knew about the operation to discredit Wilson and when he knew it. And he shouldn't hide behind those "legalisms" that Republicans were so eager to condemn in the Clinton years."

"The obligation to come clean applies, big-time, to Cheney, who appears at several critical points in the saga detailed in the Fitzgerald indictment. What exactly transpired in the meetings between Libby and Cheney on the Wilson case? It is inconceivable that an aide as careful and loyal as Libby was a rogue official. Did Cheney set these events in motion? This is a question about good government at least as much as it is a legal matter."
E.J. Dionne Jr.,
What the 'Shield' Covered Up, Washington Post, November 1, 2005

"To protect a war spun from fantasy, the Bush team played dirty."

"This administration's grand schemes always end up as the opposite. Officials say they're promoting national security when they're hurting it; they say they're squelching terrorists when they're breeding them; they say they're bringing stability to Iraq when the country's imploding. (The U.S. announced five more military deaths yesterday.)"

"And the most dangerous opposite of all: W. was listening to a surrogate father he shouldn't have been listening to, and not listening to his real father, who deserved to be listened to."

Maureen Dodd,
"Who's On First?", NYT, October 29, 2005

"Legally, there are no significant differences between the investor fraud perpetrated by Enron CEO Ken Lay and the prewar intelligence fraud perpetrated by George W. Bush. Both involved persons in authority who used half-truths and recklessly false statements to manipulate people who trusted them. There is, however, a practical difference: The presidential fraud is wider in scope and far graver in its consequences than the Enron fraud. Yet thus far the public seems paralyzed."

"In response to the outcry raised by Enron and other scandals, Congress passed the Corporate Corruption Bill, which President Bush signed on July 30, 2002, amid great fanfare. Bush declared that he was signing the bill because of his strong belief that corporate officers must be straightforward and honest. If they were not, he said, they would be held accountable."

"Ironically, the day Bush signed the Corporate Corruption Bill, he and his aides were enmeshed in an orchestrated campaign to trick the country into taking the biggest risk imaginable--a war. Indeed, plans to attack Iraq were already in motion. In June Bush announced his "new" pre-emptive strike strategy. On July 23, 2002, the head of British intelligence advised Prime Minister Tony Blair, in the then-secret Downing Street Memo, that "military action was now seen as inevitable" and that "intelligence and facts were being fixed around the policy." Bush had also authorized the transfer of $700 million from Afghanistan war funds to prepare for an invasion of Iraq. Yet all the while, with the sincerity of Marc Antony protesting that "Brutus is an honorable man," Bush insisted he wanted peace."

"In an Ipsos Public Affairs poll, commissioned by AfterDowningStreet.org and completed October 9, 50 percent said that if Bush lied about his reasons for going to war Congress should consider impeaching him. The President's deceit is not only an abuse of power; it is a federal crime. Specifically, it is a violation of Title 18, United States Code, Section 371, which prohibits conspiracies to defraud the United States."

"So what do citizens do? First, they must insist that the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence complete Phase II of its investigation, which was to be an analysis of whether the Administration manipulated or misrepresented prewar intelligence. The focus of Phase II was to determine whether the Administration misrepresented the information it received about Iraq from intelligence agencies. Second, we need to convince Congress to demand that the Justice Department appoint a special prosecutor to investigate the Administration's deceptions about the war, using the same mechanism that led to the appointment of Patrick Fitzgerald to investigate the outing of Valerie Plame. (As it happens, Congressman Jerrold Nadler and others have recently written to Acting Deputy Attorney General Robert McCallum Jr. pointing out that the Plame leak is just the "tip of the iceberg" and asking that Fitzgerald's authority be expanded to include an investigation into whether the White House conspired to mislead the country into war.)"

"Third, we can no longer shrink from the prospect of impeachment. Impeachment would require, as John Bonifaz, constitutional attorney, author of Warrior-King: The Case for Impeaching George Bush and co-founder of AfterDowningStreet.org, has explained, that the House pass a "resolution of inquiry or impeachment calling on the Judiciary Committee to launch an investigation into whether grounds exist for the House to exercise its constitutional power to impeach George W. Bush." If the committee found such grounds, it would draft articles of impeachment and submit them to the full House for a vote. If those articles passed, the President would be tried by the Senate. Resolutions of inquiry, such as already have been introduced by Representatives Barbara Lee and Dennis Kucinich demanding that the Administration produce key information about its decision-making, could also lead to impeachment."

Elizabeth de la Vega, "The White House Criminal Investigation",
The Nation, November 14, 2005 issue.

"...the choices made by--or stolen from--the American people in the 2000 election have gained a momentum that will run and reverberate through the history of the next 30 years. The dangling chad high jinks of 2000 has put into power a bellicose and internationally unilateralist, interventionist administration. Bush Corp. consists of former movers and shakers of the fossil fuel industry--the very industry responsible for producing the key ingredient for runaway climate change. Current American policy and fossil fuel consumption are in effect throwing gasoline on the fires of global warming. And, it is a prescient fact that hundreds of prophecies from around the world--including even those recently published by the Pentagon--point to climate disruption as the key trigger for apocalyptic global warfare in the near future."

"If there is a nuclear terrorist attack or a major pandemic you are going to see the ineptitude of this government in a way that'll take you back to the Declaration of Independence." Col. "The terrorists regard Iraq as the central front in their war against humanity,"
Bush said October 6 at a meeting of the National Endowment for Democracy (NED).

"Martial law, that's next. Bush is like a plane of glass. You can see all the worms turning around in his head at any moment. The first giveaway of what's on his mind--or the junta's mind."

N-U-C-L-E-A-R

N-U-C-L-E-A-R.
The word is used as liberally as the air we breathe.
A Congressional filibuster is called the
nuclear option.
The investigation of the CIA leak produced the shibboleth
nuclear bomb to refer to potential indictments.
As we all know, the word nuclear can refer either to the peaceful or the military application of nuclear energy.
Peaceful Energy or Violent War?
I believe it was Albert Camus who wrote “Violence has been made comfortable.”
Is the United States making nuclear bombs and nuclear war comfortable, and what is worse…
Acceptable?
Our violent movies…
Our violent video games…
Our violent wars (which use Depleted Uranium Radioactive Bullets & Bombs!).
Yes,
VIOLENCE HAS BEEN MADE...TOO COMFORTABLE!!

ROUND UP THE SCOUNDRELS

Alright, it wasn't Rove...YET...who got indicted.
It is difficult to believe that the higher-ups (Cheney , Bush, Rice & Rumsfeld) did not know about what Mr. Libby was doing on his Scooter.
The chain-of-command has always gone from Cheney down to Bush (notwithstanding the latter's brain which Mr. Rove has occupied).
But it seems unlikely that these servants of the people (The liars and enslavers of a country) did not all have the same insidious ball bouncing in each of their courts.
They all knew where the ball was and where it was going.
The tissue of lies (i.e. toilet paper) will continue to unravel.
The Democrats will use the progressive unraveling to propel their own forward motion towards the White House.
However, for the nation's welfare and its future as a Democracy, these lies must be revealed.
The scoundrels must be rounded up (Fired? Forced out? Impeached?) "Dodge" must be a cleaner city before the Bush cabal departs.
The world must know that America still has the courage and moral fiber to show that it will clean its own house and remove the rodents who have eaten its people out of their "house and home".

'Twas the night before...
INDICTMENTS!
Not a mouse stirred.

ADIOS TURD BLOSSOM

Hello. Turd Blossom? This is Dubya.
Hello Mr. President.
Just callin' to see if you've got your bags packed.
Yes, Mr. President. They're packed.
Good. Unless I fire Mr. Fitzgerald, you might have to leave the White House.
Yes, I know.
Well, my brain will miss you.
Thank you, Mr. President. I'm sorry that I am leaving you brainless.
No problem. I've got Cheney's brain...as long as his heart keeps ticking. Huh, huh.
Yes, Mr. President. Dick has a fine mind.
Well Turd Blossom, I'll let you go. I have to call Scooter Libby now, and then I need to go find my Halloween costume.

FOWL FUNDAMENTALISTS

It has been determined that Bill Bennett of Empower America and Pat Robertson of the Christian (Whatever-in-the-hell network) both have the bird flu.
Warnings will soon be issued by the World Health Organization. The WHO will recommend that the public immediately stop watching and paying attention to these extremely sick and fowl fundamentalists.
The avian flu is reportedly a potentially larger danger to the planet than even the 1918 Spanish flu plague was at the turn of the century.

KARL ROVER - DICK CHICANERY-AND BACKGROUND NOISE

The top secret document was helplessly floating in mid-air when multiple reporters simultaneously grabbed the document before it hit the floor, and the reporters then pondered whether to inform the White House (Karl Rover, Dick Chicanery & Others), who already were aware that the document could bring vengeance upon Joseph Wilson for his revelation of the truth about the Niger-Iraq Uranium falsehood…if only these reporters could think of something...Ah, yes...tell the world that Joseph Wilson's wife worked for the CIA...CALL Robert Novak (everybody trusts his word) and have him write a story about Mr. Wilson's CIA spouse.
Gee, did we think of this on our own or did the White House tell us?
Then confuse and contort, disassociate and discombobulate, throw curve balls and dirt balls...say this and that, then say that and this...whirling dervishes! Wolves in sheep's clothing!
(The American public could be fooled once again!)
Then hope that the independent prosecutor will heed some subtle warnings and promises to let the White House have their evil ways again.
(But let George cover our butts if anyone gets in big trouble, because Dubya always gets his way when he lies about anything.)
Time for some pretzels!

START A REVOLUTION!

There's a lot to worry about today.
A potential world-wide Bird flu epidemic is on its way.
(There goes the fried chicken and Thanksgiving turkey!)
Another monster hurricane is heading in the direction of Forida (stay tuned).
Anti-bacterial soaps might create stronger bacteria than plain old soap and hot water!
The minimum wage will not be increased. The U.S. Senate killed it today.
Let's begin and end with this last worrisome fact and ponder the following:
The U.S. Congress has given themselves a $28,000 pay raise in seven different increments since 1997.
But forget the Americans who pay taxes that gave them their pay increases. No increase has occurred in the Minimum Wage since 1997.
It has been $5.15 for eight years.
This greedy Congress couldn't even give the MW an $.85 increase to a more respectable (and palatable) $6.00/Hr.
Shame on our elected officials.
How about making them use some of their large pay raise(s) to increase the MW.
This is so revolting it ought to start some kind of revolution.

BUSH AND TORTURE

"Mr. President, will you sign the Anti-torture bill?"

"Not goin' to do it.
Won't allow any legislation that stops me from punishing and extracting information from terrorist devils.
I can torture if I have to.
Got to win this War on Terror.
As your War President, I've got to spread democracy no matter how.
Freedom, Peace and Victory are my call words.
I'll stay the course in Iraq until every drop of oil is ours.
Gotta stop those terrorists from stealing the oil that I stole.
Nope. I will veto any bill from Congress that takes away my torture authority.
Now give me some beer and pretzels."

BUSH AND BIRD FLU

"Mr. President, we're concerned about an impending bird flu..."

"What bird?
Flew where?"

"Sir, we are referring to the possibility of a flu pandemic caused by birds."

"Which birds?"

"Chickens, sir."

"I don't want to cry fowl on this one gentlemen
(Bush laughs the way he usually laughs)...but it looks like some chickens are coming home to roost, not roast!" (More laughing)

"Sir, we don't believe this is a laughing matter."

"O.K. O.K. No more chicken on the White House menu."

"We agree Mr. President, but we are also wondering whether you have a plan for a potential pandemic?"

"Well, our plate is pretty darn full with Iraq...then Katrina...and that other
hurricain...what was her name? Oh, yeah Iran…I mean Irene."

"Uh, sir, you mean Rita."

"Yeah, Rita. She wasn't mean like that Katrina."

"So, Mr. President, what should we do about this deadly bird flu?"

"Well, if Rove doesn't get his feathers pulled out, get him and Cheney on this chicken thing. Just make sure FEMA doesn't get involved."

"Yes sir."

"Well, time for lunch."

(Bush walks away mumbling
"Fowl is fair, fair is fowl...
hubble-bubble, toil and trouble..."

THE ORIGINAL LEAKER

The media is buzzing and it isn't spring.
It is autumn,
The Fall of Rove?
Unless the ORIGINAL LEAKER ( i.e., the ORIGINAL SINNER) is found in the Valerie Plame investigation, Bush's brain---Karl Rove---might get some psychosurgery.
Dubya looks cocky and confident.
The imperial (istic) regime of Bush may or may not have some of its armour impaled.
My gut feeling is that this administration has nothing to worry about.
Hush money might have quieted this particular Inquisition.
Political problems can be bought and sold.
Politicians and leaders have the lucre to hide their guilt.
In the Plame case the Bush junta has probably worked behind the scenes to erase or eschew any incrimination.
If I am wrong...
Bring out the BEER AND THE PRETZELS!

FREEDOM PEACE AND DEMOCRACY

"But the big picture, the strategic picture, we're losing. If they kill one of us for every thousand we kill -- they have over 20 million people, we have 123,000. You know, the numbers are just against us. And once one begins to look at it objectively like that, it – you’ve got to ask what this is worth, what you gain by doing this."

"I'm trying to think like a strategist, and in war, as well as in politics and diplomacy, one has to know when to withdraw and when to attack. This was a misguided act and it requires a strategic division and moral confidence to turn it around."

"The invasion of Iraq I believe will turn out to be the greatest strategic disaster in U.S. history."
Lt. General William Odom

Today I wasn't feeling well.
Then I read the transcript of the War President's speech to the National Endowment for Democracy (10-6-05).
I felt worse when I finished reading "his" words.
The first parts were inspiring.
I was impressed.
"Who’s writing this stuff?" I wondered.
But, then, my shit detector kicked into high gear.
I started recognizing the glittering, patriotic and cliché-filled sound bites, and between them, as they came at me fast and furious, I remembered that the War President and his happy warriors lied to me, to you and to the world.
It still sounded to me like a doctor who says that you are going to be fine even though your heart and lungs are in a pan under your bed.
"Son, you're almost dead, but fight on...stay the course...victory will arrive."
This speech had me swooning and believing until all of the catchwords, clichés and platitudes appeared.
I wanted to believe what the War President (was reading) repeating.
I really wanted to accept his descriptions of what & why the U.S. was fighting.
But I know too much about what has already happened.
Before, after and during this war.
Freedom, peace, democracy...these are just empty words if the people (for whom we are supposedly helping to obtain them) have been irradiated and killed with weapons that "liberated" them.
Freedom, peace & democracy are meaningless to any family who has lost a brother, a sister, an uncle, an aunt, a cousin, a mother, a father, a grandmother or a grandfather as a result of "collateral damage" during the process of their liberation and acquisition of Freedom, Peace & Democracy.
Bush and Cheney have some gifted writers writing the words which they speak.
But the War Presdident is still wrong.
Afghanistan should have been the focus of our vengeance and payback for 9-11.
The hijackers were not Iraqi---or even from Afghanistan.
They were from the Bush family's oil buddy Saudi Arabia.
Osama bin Laden should have been the enemy to be killed.
Al-Qaeda was located in Afghanistan and Pakistan---not Iraq, as it now is, and which the War President now reminds us of and scares us with.
If you were befuddled by the words that the War President read and spoke on October 6, 2004, you are not alone.
But it is always the War Presdent's delivery of his speech that finally tells us how much we can believe or accept.
Watch how he speaks.
Watch his facial expressions.
Watch his eyes.
Watch his mouth.
What did YOU see?
What do YOU believe?

TODAY'S PRESIDENTIAL ADDRESS: READING BETWEEN THE LINES OF BUSH

"We are winning in Iraq (And my polls are really rising).
Progress is being made (I wonder what's the opposite of progress?). We will win this war (This line is wearing thin).
It will take time (The Democrats can figure out how much time in 2008).
Spreading democracy and freedom is hard but we will prevail (This line is also wearing thin).
The terrorists can't win (But they sure have a lot of bombs).
We will defeat them (Gotta sound strong in the face of defeat).
The violence will grow as the election gets closer (Keep repeating the same reassuring propaganda).
Iraqi soldiers are becoming more and more able to protect their people (Yeah...right).
The Iraqi people are ready for freedom (But wish the U.S. would leave).
The world will be safer when Saddam is gone (Oops).
The United States will return to the Moon.
We will find those WMD.
Give me some pretzels.
I need to get my hands on a horse.
Good night and God bless America.

GOD FORGIVE AMERICA

Americans don't like liars or losers.
Especially when the lies and losers are big.
WMD as a reason to bomb and then occupy Iraq was a big lie.
Devotees to Bush like to ignore and discount this big lie.
Right now the War President is in denial that the war is being lost.
Yes, some battles are being won, but overall the deaths and bombs increase.
The War President has just reminded us that the violence will increase.
This isn't very reassuring.
But Bush, Rumsfeld and Cheney are all "singing" the same tune.
The melody and music is not that of the Star-Spangled Banner.
Taps is the melody.
The music is called shame and tragedy.
I am tired of hearing Bush say "God Bless America".
He needs to begin saying "God forgive America."

THE MARCH TO FREEDOM

"As these milestones approach, we can expect there to be increasing violence from the terrorists," Bush said, after a briefing from US Central Command chief, General John Abizaid, General George Casey, commander of US forces in Iraq and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Richard Myers.
"We can expect they'll do everything in their power to try to stop the march of freedom," Bush warned during comments in the Rose Garden about terrorism.
Standing on the right side of the emperor-I-wish-I-were-a-dictator War president were the grim-looking twins Rumsfeld and Cheney.
Yes, Mr. War president, your Iraq war is now like a victim of violence with blood gushing out of a gaping hole in the cranium.
And the prognosis is that more and more blood is expected to pour forth until your march of freedom is won.
The War president's top generals are now telling us that fewer Iraqi battalions are ready to replace U.S. soldiers.
Is this to get the American public to accept "staying the course"?
The patient is dying, but we need to continue what we have been doing.
War is Peace
Freedom is Slavery
Love is Hate.

SAME SEX MARRIAGE

By Mad Plato

Animals. They don’t need to worry about same sex marriages. In fact, they don’t get married at all. Nor do they get divorces.

When Mr. Bear wants to live in a cave with another Mr. Bear, who is there to care? No constitutional amendments will be made for the bonding arrangements between animals. But, generally, animals are quite monogamous. I guess.

Humans. They worry about same sex marriages. Miss so-and-so wants to live with another Miss so-and-so. Then both want to get married. Then the government says NO! Infidels! Going against the grain! Marriage is only between a man and woman. I guess.

Aliens. OK. I won’t go there.

If the shoe fits, then wear it. Different strokes for different folks.

I guess.

DON'T LOOK A GIFT HORSE OR DENTIST IN THE MOUTH

Caveat emptor... of dentists!
I recently went to Juarez to see if I could find a dentist.
Six months ago a dentist here in El Paso ago told me that my teeth were soon going to fall out from decay and bacteria, etc.
This dentist scared me when he showed all of the tadpole-like bacteria "swimming" across the computer screen.
Those things are inside my mouth? Lord, I'll never osculate again!
Anyway, the price tag here in El Paso was a mere $9,000!
I had my bottom teeth cleaned by the El Paso dentist, but was told that it was not a regular cleaning. It cost $400 and took just twenty minutes.
The next day my porcelain bridge came out because of the cleaning.
The same dentist said he would not charge the full price for gluing it
back in, and I paid $63!
Well, to cut to the chase, the Juarez dentist said that my teeth were fine, except for the missing bridge...and two front teeth that will be replaced for $143.
Never look a gift horse or dentist in the mouth, and go to Juarez
when you want honest and inexpensive service.

LEAVE IRAQ

Let us worry about Americans.
Let us protect our own shores.
The United States has already destroyed Iraq.
It is not being rebuilt. It is unlikely that Iraq will ever be "rebuilt".
The insurgency is now too elusive and strong (Time magazine).
Many former members of the U.S. military (Time magazine) now admit that this
war is not winnable.
Stay and stay stupid, or leave and gain some wisdom.
The U.S. government (i.e. the Bush regime) betrayed America and Iraq.
I feel your pain Mr. Planning Minister Barham Saleh, but your country now
must go it alone.
We are leaving you.
We put you in an icebox by attacking you.
You are in the cold. Get used to it.
The U.S. government made a big mistake. We are sorry. But we have to worry
about our own survival.
Wait...this is just coming in...Israel and Saudi Arabia have just informed me that the U.S.
will not leave or they will fix us with another 9/11.

REBELLION OR DEATH

What you wrote insinuated that I had no faith or that I had my faith in one kind of "church of entertainment".
Church and faith associated with entertainment are mixed metaphors.
A church is not usually associated with entertainment. Well, except for those holy rollers who had their meeting in the same church where I set up chairs and tables for Grandma Pat so that she and her friends could play their cards.
(My mission was to look at the girls. I don't know if Grandma ever realized this).
Anyway, I waited outside the church, listening to the racket of all of those holy rollers, and pictured in my mind their bodies rolling all over the floor. The windows were too high for me to spy a look at their antics.
"Boy", I thought to myself, "this religion sure is a lot different from Catholicism."
My faith---my beliefs---are a synthesis of all that I have ever read or experienced.
I have not always found what I have sought.
I do not (and did not) always seek what I knew I would find.
I have been reading about and “investigating” the Bush administration to learn what it’s doing, what it has done…and what it might plan to do.
I believe that America is in peril.
And I don’t think enough citizens care or know just what is and has been happening; but it appears now that more and more citizens are finding out and are not very happy with their new awareness.
Camus taught me to resist evil and to embrace life, the sun, and flowers.
He taught me about rebellion…or death.
He taught me choose life---to smile in the face of its absurdities.
If I am constantly repeating one theme---bashing the Bush
administration---it is also true that I have been critical of the war president's Iraq attack before he attacked.
I am bashing him because he bashed us.
I do not agree and I do not condone what President George W. Bush has done.
I am outraged.
As Bertolt Brecht wrote:
"I know.
But I do not approve.
And I am not resigned."

I also know.
I also do not approve.
And I also will not be resigned.

RETURN TO LUNA

The USA is heading back to the moon.
But not until 2018.
Maybe by then America will be out of Iraq.
New Orleans will have been rebuilt.
But we are still in the dark about what pre-emptive wars George W. Bush (i.e. Dick "Always hiding in his bunker" Cheney and Donald "Duck the question" Rumsfeld) have planned.
North Korea, at least for the time being, has been brought to its senses. (Hunger is a very powerful sense and bargaining chip!)
Syria and Iran are breathing down our necks and aiding the freedom-fighters (I mean terrorists) in Iraq.
On May 25, 1961 John F. Kennedy recommended that the United States land men on the moon before the end of that decade.
If we are to believe our eyes and ears, men did land on the moon in 1969.
Today's technology has had nearly 40 years to advance itself and improve the efficiency of returning to the moon.
Then why is it going to take 13 years to go back to Luna?
Some weirdos are saying that WE NEVER LANDED ON MOON. THAT IT WILL BE THE FIRST TIME!
Yes, and water is not wet.
Let's get rolling.

THE BUBONIC PLAGUE

Forget for a moment about the bloody debacle of Dubya's Iraq war and the tragedy produced by Hurricane Katrina.
The Black Plague is on the loose in New Jersey!
That's right...the BUBONIC PLAGUE!
Three (not blind) mice are missing in (or from) a laboratory in the Garden State.
Where is the Pied Piper?
Where in the heck is security at this “bio-terrorism research facility”?
It's no wonder that citizens are getting sicker.
It's no wonder that viruses are becoming more deadly and more drug-resistant.
Some officials said that the mice were either stolen or misplaced, but other scientists and investigators think the missing mice were eaten by other mice in the cages.
Put out the d-CON!

PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE

Wednesday, a federal judge in Sacramento declared the reciting of the Pledge of Allegiance in public schools unconstitutional -- a decision that could put the divisive issue on track for another round of Supreme Court arguments.
U.S. District Judge Lawrence Karlton ruled that the pledge's reference to one nation "under God" violates schoolchildren's right to be "free from a coercive requirement to affirm God."

I agree.
Make the pledge more inclusive.
There shouldn’t be a coercive requirement to affirm God or anyone else.
Here is my alternative pledge.
I realize that it needs some editing.
I know that I have left out many who need to be included.
Please mail me your suggestions.

“I pledge allegiance to the flag and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under…God, Jesus, Mohammed, Buddha, Confucius, Krishna, Lao Tzu, Socrates, Zoroaster, George Washington, the Greek gods, Moses, Abraham Lincoln, Martin Luther King, all of the Saints…my Grandma… and anyone who pays taxes…indivisible and with Liberty and Justice for all.”

TOO LITTLE, TOO LATE

Finally.
George W. Bush revealed that he is human.
But one might assert, and the assertion can be made with a nil amount of error, that this revelation is too little, too late.
This president miscalculates (once again) if he thinks that the American public is going to swallow his one little pill of remorse.
No, Mr. President.
We no longer believe you.
We no longer trust your words or your soul.
I thought to myself, "Mr. Bush wanted to show his mother that he was not heartless and remorseless".
But then I thought, "No, he did this because his handlers (Rove? Cheney? Laura?) told George Jr. that he had to be the compassionate conservative that he has never been."
When you saw his face; when you saw him tell us that he took responsibility...did you believe this president?
I did not.
I once again saw the beginning of a slimy smirk as he spoke.
This emperor has already lost his clothes
and he is still standing stark naked.

IMPEACH

"What I'm hearing, which is sort of scary, is they all want to stay in Texas. Everyone is so overwhelmed by the hospitality. And so many of the people in the arena here, you know, were underprivileged anyway, so this--this (chuckling slightly) is working very well for them."

"Why should we hear about body bags and deaths? It's not relevant. So why should I waste my beautiful mind on something like that?"

Barbara Bush

The poor and the dead in Iraq or New Orleans didn't really matter for the mother of George W. Bush.
With a mother who talks like this it is no surprise that her son is also smug, callous and remorseless.
All of those executions in Texas.
All of those dying children and elderly in New Orleans.
Hundreds of thousands of Iraqi civlians..DEAD.
Thousands and thousands of brave American soldiers wounded and...DEAD.
War and needless deaths were preventable.
This president has prevented neither.
Americans now realize that our nation has suffered from the depravity and deception of George W. Bush, Karl Rove, Dick Cheney, Condoleeza Rice, Donald Rumsfeld and others on the tragic stage of this administration.
Americans are now joining hands and voices.
They want the terror to stop.
They want this administration to be brought to justice for its lies and errors.
The American people are now requesting impeachment of this administration.
Enough is enough.

INVESTIGATE GEORGE W. BUSH

Someone needs to oversee an investigation of George W. Bush.
Someone needs to lead an investigation of President George W. Bush.
He can't lead; it's time to find out why.
He misled the United States of America into a false and shameful war.
He and his colleagues in the State Department, the CIA, FBI, the NSA, the Pentagon and on and on did not pay attention to Al-Queda or to other messages being sent to the White House that clearly indicated some very bad things could happen in New York and Washington, D.C.
Blame is NOT a game.
But, President Bush, you perform and lead like your job is a game.
9-11 and your Pre-emptive war on Iraq are still lingering and unanswered questions.
History will be the final investigative commission of your blameful and shameful administration.
In the meantime (and it is a very sad and mean time) the American people do not trust you, George W. Bush, to lead any investigation.
Step aside.
The American people deserve better.
We want the most independent and objective team of outsiders to find out why you bombed Iraq; why New York was attacked; and why your leadership failed and produced the horrendous tragedy in New Orleans.

BUSH WANTS TO MOVE HEAVEN & EARTH...AGAIN!

“Had I had any inkling whatsoever that people were going to fly airplanes into buildings, we would have moved heaven and earth to protect the country. Just like we’re working to prevent further attacks.”
George W. Bush
April 14, 2004

"Not an hour goes by that we do not spend a lot of time thinking about the people who are actively suffering. The United States, as the president has said, is going to move heaven and earth to rescue, feed, shelter" victims of the storm.

Michael Chertoff
Director of Homeland Security
September 3, 2005

Homeland Security secretary Chertoff is now Bush's ace cheerleader.
Chertoff said that he and Bush & Co ("we") think about the suffering people in New Orleans constantly.
This has the same ring of Bush's refrain: "I think about Iraq every day."
Not only are Bush & Co thinking a lot, but the president, in the words of Chertoff, "is going to move heaven and earth to rescue, feed, shelter" victims of the storm.
This president must have powers from out of this world.
He is a supernatural president.
Too bad he didn't use those powers to respond more swiftly to the tragedy in New Orleans.
Too bad he doesn't use those powers to bring the troops home from his lying war.
I think about Iraq every day, too, Mr. Bush.
I think about you, the Commander-in-Chief, who caused the bloody and blundering quagmire in Iraq.
I do not believe you or Mr. Chertoff.
And leave heaven and earth alone.
You have moved them quite enough, already, thank you!

IT WOULD BE EASIER IF I WAS A DICTATOR

As I lay awake
There came a loud voice
From across the land,
And with great power
It showed me
The Face of Anarchy.

I met Murder on the way-
He had a mask like Dick Cheney-
Very smooth he looked, yet grim-
Seven blood-hounds followed him:

All were fat; and well they might
Be in praiseworthy plight,
Because one by one, and two by two,
He threw them human hearts to chew
Which from his wide suit he drew.

Next came Fraud, and he had on,
Like George W. Bush, a scarlet frown;
His big tears, for he wept well,
Changed to hard stones as they fell.

And the poor, irradiated children who
Round his feet played to and fro,
Thinking every tear a gem,
Had their brains knocked out by them.

Clothed with the Bible, as with light,
And the shadows of the night,
Like Pat Robertson, next, Hypocrisy
On a crocodile slithered by.

And many more Destructions were
In this ghastly masquerade,
All disguised, even to the eyes,
Like terrorists, lawyers, or spies.

Finally, Anarchy arrived:
He rode in a black limousine,
Splashed with blood;
He was pale most in the lips,
Like Death in the Apocalypse.

And he wore a kingly crown,
But in his hands were skull and bones;
From his mouth these words I heard-
I am God and President
And Law…..only
The richest and fittest shall survive!

BUSH IS GIVING THE FINGER AGAIN

I am watching MSNBC right now.
6:13 P.M. (Central time)
People in New Orleans are being ignored.
Where is Bush?
What has he done?
What has he said: "Don't buy gas if you don't need to?"
Duh! Does anyone EVER BUY GAS WHEN THEY DON'T NEED GAS?
What a moron.
Bush grins his grisly grimaces when he speaks about the devastation and tragedy in New Orleans.
Well, what should we expect from this War President.
After all, he gave us Iraq.
His war buddies have embezzled millions...maybe billions...and Iraq still doesn't have water or electricity.
BUT IT HAS TERRORISTS!
Why should we expect WarBush to help his own people.
There are no emergency food and water air-drops for his own people.
Talk about democracy!
This president continues to lead us in infamy.
Poor, New Orleans.
Poor, poor America!

GOOD NEWS-BAD NEWS

THE GOOD NEWS: Pat Robertson made his apology for suggesting that
Venezuelan president Hugo Chavez should be assassinated.
THE BAD NEWS: Jessie Jackson has made a visit to president Chavez.

GOOD NEWS: Iraq has a new constitution.
BAD NEWS: It will have to be changed.

GOOD NEWS: Bob Dylan is still touring.
BAD NEWS: You still can't understand him when he's singing.

THE GOOD NEWS: There is still Freedom of Speech in the United States.
THE BAD NEWS: Limbaugh, Coulter, Hannity & Limbaugh are still giving hateful "speeches".

GOOD NEWS: Hurricane Katrina is going away.
BAD NEWS: The waters and devastation aren't.

HURRICANE KATRINA

Poor New Orleans.
I am writing this early evening Sunday August 28.
I have always wanted to visit The Big Easy.
Go to Mardi Gras.
But the gigantic Hurricane Katrina is almost certain to destroy this sweet, old city.
May New Orleans not suffer long.
May the destruction be less than predicted.
May there be zero deaths.

BUSH IS HANGING LOOSE

On Meet The Press (8-21-05)Trent Lott (R-MS) said that "we" are winning in Iraq.
He said that we must get some "dividends" back from the "investment" of dead soldiers and the money already spent in the Iraq war.
Trent Lott said that he agrees with Bush: Stay the Course.
"We are being helpful and assisting them.
We are seeking eventually is freedom and democracy for them.
It does raise the specter are we doing enough?
I think we've got to be committed in seeing this through."

On people wanting to have democracy:
"I think it's a visceral thing with people...they're willing to make sacrifices for democracy. The appeal of freedom and democracy is very strong."
Meanwhile, The Commander of War said “We’re hanging loose.”
Did he mean “We’re a hanging noose” ?

ASSASSINATION NOT WAR

Pat Robertson for president in 2008!
Here is a man with a head on his shoulders.
Instead of spending billions and billions to attack and invade a country, just snuff the leader.
In this instance, the leader is Hugo Chavez, president of Venezuela.
The U.S. invaded Iraq and
thousands and thousands of its civilians have been killed.
15,000 to 42,500 American soldiers have been wounded.
As of August 23, 2005 1,871 Americans have been killed.
At least 70 Americans have been killed in August of this year.
The United States should have liquidated Saddam Hussein and his sons rather than have its pre-emptive war.
Why didn't Bush (or Bush I and Clinton) do this?
The answer my friends is not blowing in the wind.
It is flowing beneath the earth.

MY WAR WAS NOT FOR OIL!

George W. Bush:
"Let me straighten you fellows out.
My shock and awe destruction of Iraq had nothing to do with getting reconstruction contracts to any of my friends or Dick's.
We wanted to rid Iraq of their Weapons of Mass Destruction..."

Aide:
"Uh...Mr. President. That won't work.
The public found out that we were fabricating and misleading them on the WMDs."

George W. Bush:
"Sure...that's right.
There wasn't none of those WMDs.
We bombed Iraq because of those Taliban and Al-Queda monsters."

Aide:
"Uh...Sir. That won't hold water either.
The Taliban and Al-Queda were in Afghanistan."

George W. Bush
"Sure. I knew that.
So we bombed Iraq to help Iraq get some democracy and freedom fries.
O.K. What's up?
Are we evacuating?
Are we bombing Iran yet?"

Aide:
"No sir.
Marine 1 (presidential helicopter) is here. You're due to start your vacation at Crawford."

George W. Bush
"Yeah.
Have to go find me armadillos, clean some brush and chop the wood."

Aide:
"Yes sir."

George W. Bush
"Fine.
Bring 'em on.
I'm ready to roll.
Let's go smoke 'em out.
Dead or alive.
Push those gas prices up.
Bless Haliburton and Carlyle!"

PILL-PUSHING DICTATORSHIP

It is no wonder that a dictatorship is forming before our hoodwinked eyes.
Americans are drugged on (you name it!) this drug and that drug among thousands of pharmaceuticals from here to eternity.
There are some holdouts who still inhale an evil and dangerous green plant called marijuana.
There's the methamphetamine plague.
(And let's not forget the inhalers of paint.)
In addition to the drugging of America there is the Television whose programs titillate and tranquilize with mesmerizing feelies and funnies.
No wonder the current administration is doing just as it damn pleases.
Americans have become drugged and dazed zombies.
It is true that many sleepers are waking up to the shenanigans and deceptions in the House of Bush.
But it may be too late.

[P.S.-I realize that there are many life-saving and pain-relieving drugs which are nothing short of miraculous.]

NO MORE SHOCK AND AWE!

Iran's new president, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, would love to see the Great Satan fall.
He may get his opportunity IF the United States invades his country.
Bush is trigger-happy once again.
His foot is on the pedal and his options are once again on the table.
THE WORLD DOES NOT WANT megalomaniacal George W. Bush to start another war.
How can we stop Bush this time?
Will the U.S. Congress put their foot down this time?
Enough is enough.
“Peace Out” as some young people say.
But…
“A little rebellion now and then is a good thing.” (Thomas Jefferson)

THE ARMAGEDDON CLAN

If you think Iraq is bad, wait until you see what insanity and devastation will result from a war with Iran.
The Armageddon Clan in this White House will probably do anything now.
If you think the prices at the gas pump are high now, wait until this president "knocks off" another regime.
Most Americans don't seem to care, or believe that they are powerless to prevent Bush, Cheney, Rice & Rumsfeld from continuing their Oil-Hegemony-Regime-Change War Plans.
Here’s more sad, shocking news to awe readers:

From "The Ironies of Conquest" by Micahel Schwartz/
Mother Jones magazine/August 9, 2005:

Recently, former CIA official Philip Giraldi asserted in the
American Conservative magazine that, as of late summer 2005, the Pentagon, "under instructions from Vice President Dick Cheney's office," was "drawing up a contingency plan to be employed in response to another 9/11-type terrorist attack on the United States. The plan mandates a large-scale air assault on Iran employing both conventional and tactical nuclear weapons…. As in the case of Iraq, the response is not conditional on Iran actually being involved in the act of terrorism directed against the United States." The breadth and depth of the assault, according to Giraldi's Air Force sources, would be quite striking: "Within Iran there are more than 450 major strategic targets, including numerous suspected nuclear-weapons-program development sites. Many of the targets are hardened or are deep underground and could not be taken out by conventional weapons, hence the nuclear option." Since many targets are in populated areas, the havoc and destruction following such an attack would, in all likelihood, be unrivaled by anything since Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

No doubt the Pentagon has been mapping these strategic targets for their Cruise missiles.
Time for some soothing music.

CREEPY NEWS

I saw a new invention on TV.
It's called a
dog thong.
Its purpose is to filter dog farts.
(Notice that I am politically incorrect and didn't euphemize with
canine flatulence.)
It costs 20 dollars.
You put this thing on the dog's rear end.
Of course, it covers the area where the dog farts [i.e. emits the
canine flatulence].
The dog thong has a carbon filter (comparable to what soldiers wear to protect against chemical attacks.)
I guess you can take this thing off for awhile after your dog has done his or her duty.
America.
What a country!
We invent and sell everything!

INSANITY

"The situation needs to be turned as quickly as possible into one in which the US is not fighting the Iraqis, and neither are Iraqis. Expecting the Iraqis to bludgeon themselves into a democratic society is preposterous. The present conflict can only be resolved by turning the whole matter over to a UN peacekeeping force that does not contain any Americans, and that does not continue to set the Iraqi people against each other."

[From "Seeing Our Way Out Of Iraq" by Terrell E. Arnold, Retired Senior Foreign Service Officer and former Chairman of the Department of International Studies of the National War College.]

I have been banging the keys about Bush & Co and the Iraq war for some time.
The above paragraph is sensible, but Bush is senseless and faithful to the PetroPentagonCorporate powers which he bends his knees to.
Forget about any higher deity.
The deity of George W. Bush is Money, Power and Hubris.
Bush, our president of War, is rattling his options about Iran on his imperial table, and Iraq may have to take a backseat to the American-assisted Israeli first strike on Iran.
Just as Afghanistan took a backseat to Iraq, Iraq may have to take a backseat to Iran.
Is a person close to being insane when they continue to do something that they know is wrong?
How close is George W. Bush?

Friday, August 12, 2005

IN A HAND BASKET GOING TO HELL

At his news conference in Brussels George W. Bush made a crowd laugh. He said, "This notion that the United States is getting ready to bomb Iran is simply ridiculous." Then he added: "Having said that, all options are on the table."

Sound familiar? Remember when George W. Bush tried to be funny at the 60th annual dinner of the Radio and Television Correspondents' Association: "Those weapons of mass destruction have got to be here somewhere."

If George W. Bush does bomb Iran, as some pundits believe he will, thereby once AGAIN ignoring allies who are trying to deal with Iran diplomatically, then it will give more credibility to the perception by some that George W. Bush is becoming quite as dangerous as the terror he has vowed to protect us from, and that he is placing our nation in even greater peril.

After Iran is bombed, that leaves just one more country in the Evil Axis, North Korea. However, they do not have any petroleum, just nukes, and George W. Bush does not want their nukes.

This next impending and bellicose blunder by George W. Bush is certain to fling more gas on the flaming hatred and burgeoning jihad of Islam, and is certain to make Usama bin Laden an even happier happy camper.

Many years ago I was told by an engineer who worked for a major corporation that developed "stuff" which the Pentagon then launched into space, "You wouldn’t believe the things we have up there." When I repeatedly asked him "What things?" he repeatedly told me that he could not tell me. He said, "They would know if I told you." The conversation ended when he said, "We are all in a hand basket going to hell. I just want to go back to my farm."

Most of us cannot go back to the farm. Nevertheless, George W. Bush will be locking America up in an implacable hand basket, impelled by stubborn hubris, a leaden ego, and bellicose bravado if he gives us another war. Bring the troops home.

THE PRICE OF A SODA

The discovery of electricity.
Men learning to fly in machines.
Men who landed on the Moon.
Machines that went to Mars.
The first computer.
And now...
The price barrier for sodas out of a vending machine has been broken.
The 50 cent soda is no more.
11 August 2005.
Sodas are now 60 cents where I work.
I do not remember when sodas were 25 cents.
I can barely remember when a McDonald's hamburger was 15 cents.
But it seems like the price for a soda from a vending machine has been 50 cents forever.
It made me think that the price of oil triggered this.
Or maybe I am just too much of a sentimentalist who cannot face inflation or reality.

PREPARE TO LIVE ON MARS

George W. Bush signed the Energy Bill.
It is a fiasco.
Mr. Bush once again has given to the RICH and taken from the POOR.
His "corporate friends" will receive $15 billion in tax breaks.
Most of the energy bill perpetuates the usage of petroleum and increases the development of nuclear energy, when what this country really requires is research and DEVELOPMENT with the desperate rapidity of a Manhattan or Moon project.
Bush wants to squeeze out every drop and dollar of oil. He doesn't wish to anger his Arabian boyfriends
Forget any emergency-like crash program to give the nation alternative "miracles".
The "energy war" is like the "war on drugs": UNWINNABLE as long as the status quo is maintained.
In the meantime, Americans must buy more efficient vehicles and conserve more.
And prepare to live on Mars.

THE PERPETUALLY RECALCITRANT BUSH

According to a recent AP-IPSO poll, only 38% of the American public now support George W. Bush's war in Iraq.
I predicted at the start of this full-of-lies PRE-EMPTIVE WAR that it would fail.
It is failing.
Military analysts and senior Pentagon planners now indicate that it is unwinnable.
But the recalcitrant cowboy Bush says otherwise:
"We will stay the course, we will finish the job in Iraq."
Bush uses cliches to support his belief:
"STAY THE COURSE" (Man, aren't we tired of hearing this one?)
And:
"FINISH THE JOB."
A savage war is not just another job.
These increasingly dire but banal Bushisms define a man whose heart and soul are not really contained in the words that he uses.
The roar of the winds against this war are going to get stronger and stronger.
This administration may continue to "stay the course" in this war, but the course of humanity is going to judge this war and its country's leaders as the most shameful and horrible ones in its brief history.

VACATION AGAIN AT THE CRAWFORD RANCH

"I really like it here.
I feel like I am living in a slice of Heaven."
George W. Bush

Yes, I suppose Bush does.
After all, he has spent almost one year at his ranch since occupying the Oval Office for four and one-half years.
It took President Reagan eight years to accumulate one year of vacation.
Aren't we just a little jealous?
During this WAR ON TERROR and this STRUGGLE AGAINST GLOBAL EXTREMISM, it is only natural to want another vacation.
This terror business is stressful.
Spreading democracy is stressful.
Let this war president have plenty of rest.
He needs his batteries fully charged in case there is the need of another pre-emptive war.
Time for some pretzels!

WE DESTROYED A COUNTRY TO SAVE IT

Would the United States of America ever use nuclear weapons to stop another country from developing their own nuclear weapons?
Don't put it past George W. Bush or Ariel Sharon.
In July 2003 Prime Minister Sharon showed Bush photos and other intelligence on Iran’s nuclear weapons program.
Israel’s interests are our interests, and vice versa.
Some even allege that Israel is pulling the strings.
General Brent Scowcroft, national security adviser to George H. W. Bush, said that Sharon has George W. Bush “wrapped around his little finger.” (It is actually a pretty big, little finger.)
The most far-out theories are that Israel wanted (or took part in 9-11) and was also a very influential factor for the pre-emptive attack on Iraq.
Let us hope that another pre-emptive war does not lurk behind the furtive smiles of Cheney, Bush, Rice and Rumsfeld.
But rumors have indicated that Cheney’s office has made contingency plans for a large-scale attack on Iran if there is another terrorist attack on the United States.
The contingency plans indicate that tactical nuclear weapons would be used to destroy hardened underground nuclear facilities.
It would be a very dangerous action.
What would Russia and China then do?

[Note: The NIE or National Intelligence Estimate has concluded that Iran will not have enough highly enriched uranium to produce a nuclear weapon until 2010-15.]

CLONING

Cloning is a bad idea.
There are too many orphan dogs that need to be adopted.
If God wanted us to clone, don't you think He would have given this law to Moses?
How far can all of this go?
Armies of clones?
Yep.
You can bet your bottom dollar that like everything else that science discovers, there will eventually be a military application.
I personally find that one of me is quite enough.
I also love my dog too much to replace her with a duplicate.
It demeans the existence and being of the original animal or person.
Life has no repeat performances.
I am opposed to cloning.
Now send in the clowns.

GOOD NEWS-BAD NEWS

The good news: There is a 10th planet.
The bad news: Humans have found it.
(Mars and the Moon have already been invaded.)

The good news: There is ice-water on Mars.
The bad news: It will probably melt before NASA ever uses any of it.

The good news: George W. Bush's physical shows that he is in perfect health.
The bad news: He is president of the United States.

The good news: Columnist Robert Novak broke his silence on his disclosure that Valerie Plame was a CIA operative.
The bad news: He is still a creep.

The good news: I don’t have any more GOOD NEWS-BAD NEWS.
The bad news: There will be more GOOD NEWS-BAD NEWS another day.

QUACK, QUACK

Is Bill Frist the first ranking Republican(Senate Majority leader) to turn tail and oppose Dubya?
Frist now supports stem cell research that uses embryos.
Frist is one of the first Republicans to make a salvo to gear up for the 2008 election.
Politicians change positions in order to gain popularity or to side with a popular view.
Frist is no different.
More and more Bush is becoming a lame duck.

GLOBAL WARMING

Our big brains will have to boil, bubble and burst before we admit that there is a problem:
Global Warming is real!
It is happening before our eyes!
The temperatures are rising!
The oceans are warming!
The glaciers and ice caps are melting!
The Day After Tomorrow is today.
Although in the movie the temperatures dropped, in the real world they did not.
China does not believe that it needs to worry about CO2 emissions.
Neither does Bush & Co.
Tomorrow is another day, but I bet it will be a hotter one than today.
Put away your mittens and buy tons of sunblock.

KARL ROVER & DICK CHICANERY

INNOCENT CIVILIANS

9,250.
This number is 37% of 25,000.
25,000 is the number of women, men and children who have been killed in the U.S. war in Iraq.
9,250 innocent civilians have been killed by the U. S.-led coalition, according to the Iraq Body Count and Oxford Research Group, a U.K.-based group of academics and peace activists.
Their Dossier on Civilian Casualties in Iraq 2003-2005 reported that 37% of all non-combatant deaths were caused by the U.S.-led coalition.
But according to a project done by the Center for International Emergency, Disaster and Refugee Studies at the John Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health in Baltimore, Columbia University and the Al-Mustansriya University College in Baghdad, the number of civilians who have been killed is much higher.
100,000.

NATIONAL SHIELD LAW

George W. Bush and the Justice Department do not want a National Shield Law.
Liars want to hide all of their secrets.
To allow the national media to continue to have anonymous sources would be a threat to this bellicose and duplicitous administration.
Bush used Executive Privilege to rescind the 1978 Presidential Records Act.
His own private records, and those of his father, are going to remain secret in perpetuity.
Dictators can’t permit the citizenry to know what they are doing, planning to do or have done.

SUPREME COURT NOMINATION

Bush has come out of his cocoon twice in one day!
Tonight he'll announce the replacement for Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O'Connnor.
Two bits says that Bush will nominate a woman for the Supreme Court.
Laura has Bush on a short leash.
Especially after she said that George once had his hand around a horse's member.
This has bolstered Laura's bravado and prestige as First Lady.
The Supreme Court will be another woman.
Thanks to Laura Bush.

OOPS!
I lost two bits.
Wrong horse.
Maybe next time.

BUSH'S BRAIN

If he isn't a leaker, then he can stay,
But if he committed any crime then
He'll have to leave.

My name is Rove &
I'm Bush's brain,
I'm very loath
To be insane.
I'm no leaker &
I'm no streaker,
I'm just a big peeker
Whose smears can get reeker...
Please, let me try,
Let me try.

BEYOND GOOD AND EVIL

It is quite strange and astonishing.
Bush wants freedom and liberty for Iraq.
But U.S. borders are unprotected.
Sure, there is the Border Patrol.
And, I guess, there are some pilotless drones with cameras.
But it is as if Bush & Co want terrorists to come across the border.
To explode some bomb(s)?
I guess a bigger 9-11 would allow their Project for the New American Century to continue.
And allow them to expand their powers.
Keep the populace in a state of terror.
Expand the Patriot Act.
Keep the coffers of the War Machine filled.
And give them justification to bomb Iran.
With nukes.
Bush & Co seem to think that they are BEYOND GOOD AND EVIL.
The world is burning inside of their inferno.

INTERVIEW WITH A VAMPIRE

"Hello. Time magazine. This is Matthew Cooper."
"Hello. Matthew, this is Rove. Karl Rove."
"Hello Mr. Rove. How are the smears going?"
"Well, Matt, that's what I want to talk about. I have a scoop for you."
"Scoop? Or Poop?"
"O.K. It's a poopy scoop. Anyway, here's what I have.
I know the identity of Jospeph Wilson's wife."
"So?"
"Well, she's a CIA agent."
"Oh."
"Yeah. And Joseph Wilson needs his butt spanked for trying to tell the American people the truth about the Niger uranium."
"And?"
"So publish the fact that Wilson's wife is CIA."
"I'll see what I can do. Do I have to keep your name out of this?"
"Yes. But I doubt that we need to worry about any exposure. And the American public is in our pockets for now."
"O.K. Karl. Thanks."
"No problema."

THEY CREATED A NIGHTMARE

The real sham (and shame) of the U.S. pre-emptive war, invasion and occupation of Iraq is that it was a sham from the beginning.
It is becoming more believable (yet still incredible) that Bush & Co knew about the impending attack on September 11, 2001 and did nothing to stop it.
It is becoming more believable (yet still incredible) that the defenses of the nation were put on hold and stopped from defending the Pentagon and the WTC on September 11, 2001.
The shame is that the Bush administration will feel just as fine when they leave this war (for the next generation) as when they attacked.
Because their war profits will have been made for themselves and their corrupt cronies.
But their souls and consciences will feel guilt and pain, even if only on a subconscious-unconscious level (where Bush seems to dwell anyway.)
American taxes paid for this war.
The profits of Halliburton and subsidiaries were misgotten by overcharging and stealing.
This might be the end of the American dream.
A small group of men ended the American dream.
They created a nightmare.

ROVE IS A PREVARICATOR

Bush's brain, Karl Rove, is a big prevaricator.
Alright.
A big liar!
He lied the United States into the Iraq war.
He revealed the identity of a C.I.A. agent (spouse of Joseph Wilson) as payback for Mr. Wilson telling the world that it was not true that Iraq had obtained uranium from Niger.
The entire Bush administration is a big lie.
The truths and lies are now being revealed.
Not only should Rove be removed, but Bush and Cheney should be purged.
These leaders have disgraced America.

BUSH VISION & UFOS

The large flotilla of UFOS are here to help the president with his vision.
The president recognizes, for example, that his selection of a new Supreme Court Justice is very important.
The UFO flotilla will help him to choose wisely.
The president, as he said, knows that there is Global Warming.
He just doesn't want to worry about it right now.
Let denizens of the year 2100 worry about it.
Maybe those UFOS can help clear the air.
In the meantime, we must continue to get oil from our friends in the Middle East.
(And continue to increase profits in my own stocks!)
The UFOS can also assist in locating Osama bin Laden.
Finally "smoke him out" !
Time for some pretzels.

QUOTATIONS ON PATRIOTISM

So it is the Fourth of July.
Here are quotations about patriotism.
Let us not give up our resolve to bring to justice the current administration in Washington. Our country deserves to punish those who have stolen the lives of our countrymen, and robbed our national treasury...in order to profit from an illegal, horrible, false war!

"Patriotism ruins history."
Goethe

"My country, right or wrong" is a thing no patriot would ever think of saying except in a desperate case. It is like saying "My mother, drunk or sober."
G.K. Chesterton

"Patriotism ... is a superstition artificially created and maintained through a network of lies and falsehoods; a superstition that robs man of his self-respect and dignity, and increases his arrogance and conceit."
Emma Goldman

"We must not confuse dissent with disloyalty. When the loyal opposition dies, I think the soul of America dies with it."

Edward R. Murrow

"To announce that there must be no criticism of the president, or that we are to stand by the president, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public." (1918)
Theodore Roosevelt

BLESS THE COWS

Sunlight on a Martian crater.
What an amazing picture!
And how about the hole in the sun that shows a black, starry universe!
Meanwhile, here on earth we have wildfires and wars, celebrity pregnancies and marriages.
Life goes on.
Cows keep chewing their cuds and giving us their precious milk.
O.K. And their red meat.
Bless the cows!
Bless the chickens!
Bless the fish!
Bless the sunlight on a Martian crater!
